摘要： A printer for a cigarette-manufacturing machine has a density sensor (70) disposed between a wrapping section (4) and a cutting section (16) of the machine, and the density sensor (70) detects the print density of printed information (PI) of a tobacco rod (TR). The information (PI) is printed on a paper web W by a printing unit (20) located upstream from the wrapping section (4). Disposed between the printing unit (20) and the wrapping section (4) is an adjusting device (62) for varying the length of a feeding path of the paper web W. A density signal from the density sensor (70) is used to control the operation of the printing unit (20) and adjusting device (62). Thus, based on the density signal, the print density of the printed information (PI) and the arrival timing thereof at the density sensor (70) are each controlled.

摘要： A cigarette rod wrapper is cut from a paper web which is preprinted on its outer surface firstly with brand legend (33) and longitudinally spaced registration markings (32), and then on its inner face with a profiled deposit (34) of an additive such as a nicotine component. The registration markings (32) are used both to ensure longitudinal registration of the printed deposit (34), and in the rod making machine to ensure that the tobacco rod is cut at the correct position. The registration marking (32) is covered in use by a tipping wrapper (43) which unites the tobacco rod with a filter element (42).

摘要： In the method for applying identification features to a packing strip in order to authenticate the processed packing, the packing strip is fed in a packing line to an embossing station, where logos of all kinds and/or codes and/or a satin finish and/or fold lines are embossed at the cycle rate of the packing machine by means of embossing rollers by deforming the packing strip, Identification: features and possibly other features are produced additionally on the packing strip on-line, in the same process step, and synchronously to the cycle rate by material removal by means of a feature setup comprising a laser installation, the packing strip having a thickness of 50 μm to 300 μm. The thus treated packing strip is subsequently further processed. Due to the fact that the feature setup for producing the identification features is provided in addition to the embossing rollers but operates in the same process step, all known embossing rollers can be used, and due to the application of lasers for producing the features, e.g. a consecutive numbering can be produced, thereby ensuring a secure authentication method without the need of changing substantially the embossing station comprising a housing with at least two embossing rolls, or lowering the processing speed.

This inspection apparatus can be mounted to a tobacco wrapping machine.

摘要： Cigarettes are manufactured using modified automated cigarette making apparatus. Those cigarettes possess smokable rods having paper wrapping materials having additive materials applied thereto as patterns. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an off-line manner to a continuous paper sheet web that is later used for cigarette manufacture. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an on-line manner to continuous paper web moving through an operating cigarette making machine. The coating formulation is applied to the paper web using roll applicator techniques, ink jet printing techniques or electrostatic precipitation techniques. Liquid coating formulation are curable, and are virtually absent of solvent or liquid carrier. Radiation, such as ultraviolet or electron beam radiation, is used to solidify and fix polymerizable liquid components of the coating formulation that have been applied to the paper web. Heating and subsequent cooling of the coating formulation used to fix solid components of the coating formulation that have been applied to the paper web. Registration techniques are used to ensure proper positioning of the additive material on the smokable rods so manufactured, and to ensure proper quality of those cigarettes.
