The releasing mechanism includes a hook member, a strut member, a load member, a link member, and an actuator. The link member surrounds or frames the strut and hook members and holds the members in a static relationship of an unactuated configuration. A preferred link member includes a single central slot through which each of the hook member and the strut member extend. The actuator is arranged with respect to the link member to separate the hook and strut members and break the link member upon operation of the actuator.

    摘要: The invention concerns a pneumatic control device (1) for multi-zone fire extinguishing installations, comprising a control pressure inlet port (25) for connection to a control pressure source (105), in particular a pressurised gas container, a number (m) of first control pressure outlet ports (17) for connection to a corresponding number of extinguishing agent containers (107), a number (n) of second control pressure outlet ports (19) for connection to a corresponding number of zone valves (111), and a plurality of function modules (7, 9). It is proposed that the invention further includes a quantity control module (9) for the association of a selection of the first number of control pressure outlet ports (17) with a selection of the second control pressure outlet ports (19), and an electrical control valve module (7) which is controllable from the exterior for selectively opening or closing the second control pressure inlet ports (19) and which can be connected in particular in signal-conducting relationship to a fire alarm and/or extinguishing control station (103), wherein the function modules (7, 9) are operatively connected together.

    摘要: A fire protection system includes a fire extinguisher including a housing. The housing includes an extinguisher outlet and a burst disk. The burst disk configured to retain a volume of fire suppressant material in the housing. A firing cartridge is operably connected to the housing. The firing cartridge includes an output charge, and an ignition charge that, when detonated, causes release of the output charge to rupture the burst disk and release the volume of fire suppressant material through the extinguisher outlet. An optical fiber is configured to transmit a light signal toward the ignition charge to heat and detonate the ignition charge. A light source is operably connected to the optical fiber to transmit the light signal along the optical fiber.

A local processing unit is operatively coupled to a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag reader antenna. Sensors monitoring a sensor area for the presence of a fire are in electrical communication with the local processing unit. Fluid distribution devices in fluid communication with the pipe system are configured to deliver water from the water source to the sensor area. An RFID tag apparatus is coupled to one of the fluid distribution devices and includes an RFID tag antenna positioned within the pipe system and is configured to transmit and receive radio frequency (RF) signals to and from the RFID reader antenna and local processing unit, through the pipe system.

    摘要: An actuator assembly for use in fire suppression systems for use in vehicle and industrial fire protection systems. The actuator assembly engages a cartridge of pressurized gas and releases the gas contained therein with a puncturing assembly. The actuator assembly includes a receptacle that controls the manner in which the actuator assembly and cartridge engage one another. The actuator assembly is configured for electrical and pneumatic actuation for rupturing the seal of the cartridge of pressurized gas. The actuator assembly has a housing that includes at least one inlet port that is coupled to a pressurized gas source, which is formed between a first chamber for electrical components sealed from the operative environment of the actuator assembly and a second chambers for the puncturing assembly. The actuator assembly allows for serial interconnection of multiple actuator assemblies for operation by a single source of pressurized gas.

    摘要: An automatic fire containment system is disclosed, together with certain components which may be used therewith. An embodiment of the system attempts to provide fire suppressant to regions surrounding a fire zone, thus containing the fire within limited area, but not flooding a larger area than necessary to contain the fire. Sprinklers which may be selectively automatically activated electrically, optionally in addition to common heat triggering, are also provided. Sensors may be embedded in the sprinklers. Further provided are sprinkler capable of reporting activation thereof via electrical state change. Further provided are devices to reduce installation costs and increase the resolution of firefighting and/or fire containment systems by providing wireless communications between network nodes such as flow switches, valve status switch, and individual sensors, sprinkler, and other ports, and a control panel/controller.

    摘要: According to one aspect, a fire extinguisher includes a fire extinguisher reservoir and a fire extinguisher outlet burst disc that forms a discharge barrier between the fire extinguisher reservoir and a discharge head to retain a pressurized fire extinguishing agent at an internal fire extinguisher pressure within the fire extinguisher reservoir. A cutter is detained within the fire extinguisher proximate the fire extinguisher outlet burst disc. An interior container within the fire extinguisher reservoir has a container pressure and is sealed with a container burst disc. An activation device having a piercing member is operable to pierce the container burst disc and diffuse the container pressure to create a pressure differential relative to the internal fire extinguisher pressure at the cutter, thereby driving the cutter through the fire extinguisher outlet burst disc to release the pressurized fire extinguishing agent through the discharge head.

    摘要: A pressure-driven fire-suppression valve wherein a single electrical switch is mechanically actuated by coaxially related first and second sealed piston components, which are compliantly loaded in the direction away from switch actuation. The first piston component is of lesser area and has its switch-actuating relation via abutment with the second (larger-area) piston component; this first piston component continuously responds to suppressant-charge pressure, via a pressure-fluid connection to the upstream valve chamber, i.e., to the upstream side of the closed position of the valve member (poppet). As long as this upstream-sensed pressure is above predetermined threshold, the compliant-load force will be overcome, and the switch will be mechanically actuated, but upon leakage below threshold, the mechanical actuation is released, for a change of state at the switch. The downstream side of the second piston component is of relative large area and is continuously exposed via a pressure-fluid connection to the downstream chamber of the valve; normally, the downstream chamber is at ambient atmospheric pressure, but upon suppressant-gas discharge, the downstream-chamber pressure is transiently elevated, enabling the second piston component to transiently add to the compliant-loading force and thus rapidly to terminate the actuated state of the switch.

    摘要: An installation control valve, for example for use in a fire fighting sprinkler installation, comprises a pivotal butterfly valve disc co-operable with a movable stop, which in one position abuts the valve disc to retain the valve closed against pressure forces acting thereon. A retaining mechanism is releasably held to resist stop movement and so prevent valve disc opening but is operable under a predetermined condition to permit stop movement from said one position to a second position. When the stop is in the second position, unequal pressure forces on either side of the valve disc cause same to move thereby opening the valve.
