    摘要: Method and apparatus for precision longitudinal registration of a movable tire building drum (120, 620) to an automated tire building system (100) work station (110, 610), wherein the automated tire building system comprises one or more work stations with application drums (112), and the tire building drum is moved longitudinally forward (105) into and out of each work station, comprising: providing a work station longitudinal reference point (115, 615) upon a forward-facing surface (115, 615) of a laterally extendible portion (114, 614) of the work station; providing a drum reference point (125, 625) upon a rearward-facing surface (125, 625) of the tire building drum; and after the tire building drum has been moved into a work station, halting the tire building drum movement, laterally extending the work station longitudinal reference point rearward of the tire building drum, and then moving the tire building drum longitudinally rearward to abut the drum reference point against the work station longitudinal reference point. The tire building drum can be moved by a self-propelled vehicle (102, 602) which is flexibly connected to the tire building drum with a coupling (560, 660) which can be uncoupled. Then the tire building drum is moved longitudinally rearward by: coupling the work station to the tire building drum; uncoupling the tire building drum from the vehicle; and longitudinally moving the tire building drum relative to the vehicle. The flexible connecting means allows controlled lateral and vertical movement of the tire building drum relative to the vehicle while the vehicle is moving the tire building drum forward.

    摘要: A pneumatic tire production system comprises production lines each including a green tire building station for assembling unvulcanized members of pneumatic tires into green tires. The green tires are vulcanized at a vulcanizing station which includes at least one vulcanizing unit equipped with a plurality of vulcanizing molds. The number of the vulcanizing mold is determined so as to satisfy the vulcanizing capacity which is substantially equivalent to the number of green tires formed at the building station within a predetermined unit time. The system serves to minimize the intermediate stock amount of green tires due to minimized changeover between different types of tires to be alternately produced.

Each of blocks included in two pitch groups designated in a pitch array is modeled (100), an objective function representing a tire performance evaluation physical amount, a constraint condition for restricting a tire shape, and a design variable which is an angle of a wall surface determining each of block shapes are determined (102). Next, the design variable is varied continuously by &Dgr;ri to determine a modified model (104 to 108). A value of the objective function of the modified model and a value of the constraint condition are calculated, and a sensitivity of the objective function and a sensitivity of the constraint condition are determined (110, 112). A variation amount of the design variable which minimizes a difference between block rigidities is estimated, a modified shape model is determined, the objective function is calculated, and by using a value of the design variable, a block shape of each of the pitch groups in the pitch array forming the tire is determined (114 to 120).

    摘要: Process and apparatus for improving a concentricity of a pneumatic vehicle tire having a bead. The process includes subjecting at least a portion of the bead, after vulcanization, to a plastic deformation post-treatment. The post-treatment improves the concentricity of the tire. The apparatus includes a drum having a surface which engages a radially inner bead seat surface of the tire. The drum includes at least one of an internal heating mechanism and an internal cooling mechanism. The drum is adapted to plastically deform at least a portion of the bead of the tire so as to affect at least one of a first, a second, and a third harmonic. The plastic deformation improves the concentricity of the tire.
