    摘要: A cushioning device for a footwear sole has multiple vertically directed columns. One column is located on a medial side and another is located on a lateral side, and are adjacent and spaced apart from each other. The medial column has the relatively larger volumetric property relative to the volumetric property of the lateral column. In another sense at least one of the columns has different elastomeric and/or compression properties relative to other columns. The device is located between an upper support plate and a lower support plate, and the support plates have more rigid characteristics than the cushioning device. Each column includes an upper larger area and a lower smaller area, and downwardly directed walls taper inwardly towards a lower location. The lower portion is where the bases of the columns are spaced apart.

    摘要: A mold assembly for manufacturing an outsole includes a female mold, a first male mold pivotally connected to a side of the male mold and a second male mold pivotally connected to an end of the male mold. A peripheral wall defining the cavity has a separating flange extending inwardly therefrom. Each of the first male mold and the second male mole has at least one protrusion extending therefrom through which at least one passage is defined. The protrusion of the first male mold is inserted into the cavity and an outer surface of the protrusion abuts the separating flange. The first protrusion and the second protrusion are inserted into the cavity in sequence and material is injected into the cavity via the passages.

    摘要: A footwear fitting system employs a set of sample footwear items, e.g., shoes, provided in small increments of length and width. The sample shoes are tried on by the wearer and the one providing the best fit is chosen. Then, a fit component of a stock shoe is re-formed with a molding apparatus to provide a size and width identical to the selected sample shoe. A shoe store need only stock a relatively small number of standard size shoes in order to provide the wearer with a close "custom" fit. The footwear interior is re-formed by mounting the footwear on a last having a length and width corresponding to that of the selected sample shoe. The last is heated to the softening temperature of a moldable strip of material, e.g., ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), incorporated into the shoe upper, then allowed to cool, whereby the footwear interior shape and size is reformed to correspond to the last. In an alternative embodiment, the footwear item is a shoe insert, e.g., a shoe insole. In a similar manner, the wearer is fitted to one of a set of sample shoe inserts. Then a stock insert is re-formed by molding to correspond in size and shape to the sample shoe insert providing the desired fit characteristics.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing shoe soles from plant starch includes mixing Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) with plant starch, and adding a processing assistant, a dispersing assistant, a bulking agent, processing oil and an anti-oxidation agent to be mixed thoroughly in a mixer at a temperature between 30.-190.. Then the mixed materials are extruded through an extrusion machine to become granules of raw material contained the plant starch for the shoe soles. The raw material thus formed is mixed with a pigment and dying additives, then is injected through an injection machine and molds to become the shoe soles contained the plant starch. The plant starch is renewable; hence reliance on the petroleum materials is reduced. As a result, it can better meet environmental conservation and protection requirements.
