A plurality of heater elements are employed and at least certain of the heater elements are independently controllable. At least one of the heater elements is employed as a nullfinishingnull heater element, with the other heating elements deactivated to enable the nullfinishingnull heater element to more slowly elevate the temperature of the fluid in the body from a first temperature reached by activation all or most of the heater elements to the predetermined discharge temperature. The control system includes a parameter sensing means for sensing one or more parameters, and providing a sensed parameter value for each sensed parameter. For each sensed parameter, a comparator means compares the sensed parameter value with a respective desired value and provides an error signal according to the difference between the sensed parameter value and the desired value. One or more controlling means use the one or more of the error signals to provide a plurality of control signals, such that each control signal is able to regulate one or more of the controlling characteristics of the alternator and a temperature of a body heated using energy from the cogeneration unit.

    摘要: A power system specifically designed to provide reliable electrical power to a telecommunication facility is disclosed. The system includes a number of microturbine generators adapted to provide AC power that is then rectified to DC power by an array of rectifiers. The system is configured so that the microturbine generators are fueled initially by utility-supplied natural gas. In the event the utility-supplied natural gas fails, the system provides propane from a storage tank to fuel the microturbine generators. If both microturbine generator fuel sources fail or their fuel supply becomes exhausted, power is supplied to the rectifiers by a commercial electrical utility. The system also includes a number of hydrogen-powered proton exchange membranes that are operable to supply DC power directly to the facility if both the microturbine generators and the electrical utility fail. Finally, a number of super capacitors are coupled to the bus line directly connected to the facility in order to maintain power if it becomes necessary to switch power sources.

During hot weather the auxiliary engine rotates the air conditioner compressor to provide cool air to the truck accessories by load management controls alternator current output to provide DC power to accessories and for battery charging. When peak loads occur, the voltage is reduced into the field of the alternator in a form of load management wherein the truck batteries act as the power sink and the alternator is used to replenish any power drawn from the truck batteries when the peak demand is removed. During cold weather the engine coolant is used to cool the auxiliary engine and is circulated through a heat exchanger for warming of the truck interior, full capacity of the alternator is allowed accommodating the higher amp draws typical of cold weather diesel operation.

    摘要: A system for compensation of contamination of a heated element in a heated element gas flow system in which the heated element becomes heated from an ambient temperature to an elevated temperature upon the application of electrical power to the heated element during a startup time period. The system includes a processing circuit having an input and an output. A voltage signal from the heated element is connected to the input of the processing circuit. The processing circuit reads a plurality of temporally spaced input signals as data from the processing circuit input during the startup time period. The processing circuit then computes the parameters of a transfer function corresponding to the data on its input. The processing circuit then calculates a contamination correction factor as a function of at least one parameter of the transfer function. The processing circuit then utilizes the correction factor to modify a measured gas flow rate by the gas flow meter after the heated element attains the elevated steady state temperature to compensate for contamination of the heated element.

    摘要: An electrically powered resistance heating handgrip is provided for a vehicle that employs an electrical storage battery. A control circuit to regulate the amount of power provided to the resistance elements in the grip is provided and preferably located within a hollow core that fits coaxially within the open end of a handlebar of a motorcycle or snowmobile, for example. The control circuit is mounted on a thin, narrow, elongated printed circuit board and includes a microprocessor that is programmed to contain a lookup table of temperatures. A thermistor is embedded in the casing of the handgrip proximate the heating element thereof. The thermistor provides feedback signals to the microprocessor which compares the temperature sensor feedback signals to a target temperature and provides or interrupts electrical power to the electrical heating element depending upon whether the temperature indicated by the thermistor is lower than the target temperature. The target temperature is established by a dial mounted in the butt end of the handgrip. The dial operates the wiper of a variable potentiometer to establish the target temperature. Heat is uniformly distributed throughout each handgrip by wrapping the heating element wire thereof about a thermally conductive sheet of aluminum, and encasing the wire within a temperature resistant dielectric sheathing, such as Teflonnull.
