摘要: A method and system for inspecting a rail by guided waves, the rail being instrumented by sensors. The method comprises the steps of receiving elastic wave measurements from one or more sensors, as a train passes, releasing energy as guided waves into the rail; and of determining a function representative of the impulse response of the rail and the sensors. Developments describe how to determine the existence, position and characterisation of a defect in the rail (e.g. fracture, incipient fracture, etc.), the use of inter-correlation analyses, correlation of the coda of correlations, Passive Inverse Filter, imaging techniques. Other aspects are described for exploring rail defects: sensor position and movement, acquisition time, sampling frequency, frequency filters, amplifications, techniques for learning during successive train passes, signal injection by transducers. Software aspects are described.

摘要: A supervised machine learning of a computer-implemented method performs a technical process in which a data pool is created, containing data sets with input data and output data that describes a correct process result. The data sets are divided into training and validation data sets. The method is trained in a training phase, wherein process parameters of the method are varied during repeated performances of the method. A trained method is checked in a validation phase by comparing the output data calculated with the trained method with the input data, with the output data describing the correct process result and calculating an actual probability of failure for the method as a result of the comparison. An empirical probability of failure is defined for the training phase, which is at most as large as a specified target probability of failure.

摘要: A system and method for automating railroad maintenance for a tie gang using electronic tie marking (ETM) configured to optimize railroad asset maintenance. The system enables the automating of an adaptive maintenance process for the asset that is being maintainanced. The system can identify a railroad asset scheduled for maintenance using various forms of inspection including real-time kinematic (RTK)-corrected GPS data, radar signal processing data, and real-time imaging. The system also provides for the acquisition and upload of asset pictures for verification and analysis of a railroad asset. The system can identify a next location to perform maintenance and can calculate an optimum path based on sensor input incorporating machine-specific and environmental characteristics. The system further can provide a customizable user interface to identify, track, and process information related to maintenance of the railroad asset.

摘要: A train forewarning braking system is disposed between a train and a track for the train to travel on, is electrically connected to a traffic control center, and has an image monitoring module. The image monitoring module is disposed around the track, is electrically connected to a control system of the train and the traffic control center, and has multiple image capture units and multiple display units. The image capture units are disposed at spaced intervals near the track and are electrically connected to the control system of the train to capture images of the environment around the track. The display units are disposed on the train and the traffic control center, and are electrically connected to the control system to display the images captured by each one of the image capture units.

摘要: A method for obstacle detection for a rail vehicle includes determining a monitoring region in front of the vehicle based on position and course of a track which the vehicle travels and position and dimensions of a monitoring profile of the vehicle. During the determination, sensor data for determining position and orientation of the vehicle are captured and position and course of the track which the vehicle travels are determined based on alignment of the determined position and orientation of the vehicle with digital map data. Objects in the vehicle environment are captured by sensors of the vehicle. Which objects are potential collision obstacles is determined by checking whether and to what extent they overlap with the monitoring region. A reaction to the objects categorized as potential obstacles is determined based on geometric and kinetic attributes of the objects. An obstacle detection device and a vehicle are also provided.

摘要: Methods of non-destructive rail analysis and evaluation for railroad tracks are provided. The methods can include capturing images of rails over time and at various temperatures. High-contrast patterns can be applied to or associated with a rail to facilitate image analysis. Rail neutral temperature (RNT), stress, strain, and curvature of the track can be determined using image correlation and regression analysis. A stereovision system may be used for rail neutral temperature measurements and for determining effects of a heating method. A non-contacting, nondestructive methodology for RNT and longitudinal rail stress measurements is based on stereo vision image acquisition and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) for acquiring the full field shape, deformation, and strain measurements taken during a thermal cycle. The thermal cycle can be natural or induced.

摘要: A method and apparatus to detect breaks in tracks and/or detect the presence of a vehicle, such as a train, in a monitored section of the track or rail. Embodiments of the present invention measure the change in track inductance associated with a track or rail break. Electrical shunts are connected between the rails at spaced-apart intervals (for example a shunt can be placed every mile). At least two different frequencies of alternating current are generated and fed into the segments of rail (for example at or near a mid-point between the shunts). If a rail break occurs, the total inductance of the rail at that segment will change. Using two or more frequencies allows a rail break to be differentiated from environmental rail-to-rail and rail-to-earth leakage.
