Embodiments of a jet pump system are disclosed where certain embodiments comprise an inlet component, an electronic controller which is cooled via the inflow of water through the inlet component, a combined motor impeller system positioned adjacent to the outflow aperture of the inlet component, and a nozzle pump positioned adjacent to the outflow of the motor impeller system.

A sea water intake riser system for a floating production unit, including a caisson having a through-opening in a bottom side and being connectable to an upper end of a riser pipe; a lift pump inside the caisson and having an inlet at a vertical distance with a predetermined minimum submergence for pumping cold water from the caisson up to the floating production unit for use as cooling medium, wherein the sea water intake riser system includes at least two caissons, having a height substantially equal to a vertical height of a hull of the floating production unit and including an open top side; each caisson extending from a predetermined minimum distance from the bottom side of the hull up to at least the water-line during use and wherein a sump tank is located between the bottom side of the hull and the at least two caissons.

A remote monitoring method, performed at a central location by a controller associated with the central location, for use with multiple remotely located boats is described involving determining, based upon first location information, second location information and tide information, whether a water-fed air conditioner of a first boat or a water-fed air conditioner of a second boat should be shut off or turned back on due to tide-caused depth changes at a first location or second location. A controller for a boat has at least one processor; and programming which, when executed will cause the at least one processor to, when the boat's air conditioner is operating, cause at least a water pump pumping water to the condenser to shut off at a time, based upon a depth at the current location of the boat of less than a specified minimum acceptable depth.

A heat exchange system for use on an engine-powered watercraft includes a liquid cooling system for cooling the engine using a first heat exchanger and a water heating system using a second heat exchanger for heating water. Raw water from an external water source is passed through each heat exchanger. Water used to cool the engine coolant inside the first heat exchanger exits the watercraft. Water heated by the second heat exchanger is passed to either an intake conduit or at least one onboard accessory system for flushing thereof to kill aquatic invasive species. A valve inside the second heat exchanger opens to release heated water when the heated water reaches a temperature of at least 140° F. Heated coolant from the first heat exchanger passes through the second heat exchanger to transfer heat to the water inside the second heat exchanger.

A cooling apparatus (1) for cooling a fluid by means of surface water, the cooling apparatus comprising at least one tube (8) for containing and transporting the fluid in its interior, the exterior of the tube (8) being in operation at least partially submerged in the surface water so as to cool the tube (8) to thereby also cool the fluid, characterized in that the cooling apparatus is adapted to receive at least one light source (9) for producing light that hinders fouling, wherein, after the cooling apparatus has received the light source, the at least one light source (9) is dimensioned and positioned with respect to the tube (8) so as to cast anti-fouling light over the tubes' (8) exterior.

The method comprises arranging a first conductive layer on a first surface of an intermediate insulating layer; making a channel on a second surface of the intermediate insulating layer; arranging a heating cable in the channel; filling the channel with a conductive filling material to cover the heating cable arranged in the channel; and attaching a second conductive layer to the second surface of the intermediate insulating layer with a conductive adhesive coating.

A guide plate having depressed portions is provided between an array of heat exchanger tubes, herein after “tubes”, arranged horizontally side-by-side and a next lower array of tubes arranged horizontally side-by-side, and is positioned with the lowest parts of the depressed portions near crest portions of respective lower tubes. The guide plate conveys a liquid D on outer surfaces of respective upper tubes onto similarly positioned lower tubes even when the tubes move in a right-and-left direction. A falling film heat exchanger installed in a ship, an offshore structure or the like can avoid reduction in heat exchange performance, even when the ship or the like inclines and swings, by substantially evenly distributing and dropping a liquid onto the crests of the tubes and causing the liquid dropped from the tubes located in an upper array to fall onto the tubes located in the next lower array.

At least a part of the distal portion (109) of the first tubular conduit extends further in the length direction than the second tubular conduit when in fully suspended condition. A diesel/electric appliance for heating coolant within an auxiliary heater circuit and for heating potable water within a potable water circuit. The appliance includes a diesel powered auxiliary heater and a coolant jacket surrounding the burner of the auxiliary heater. Electrical resistance elements are immersed within the coolant jacket to maintain the temperature of the potable water circuit by transferring heat through a heat exchanger to the potable water circuit.
