摘要:
A compact portable modular wastewater treatment system which integrates several processing technologies to provide a substantially purified water source. A wastewater stream is sent through an initial filtration step. The filtered wastewater is then subjected to electrocoagulation and then further filtered. The resulting stream containing substantially only organics is then treated in an advanced oxidation process which can include passing an electrical current through the water during the oxidation process. The partially treated water is then passed through ion-exchange columns to polish ammonium and other contaminants. The ion-exchange columns are cycled through regeneration cycles to provide continuous ion-exchange medium. The ammonium rich brine solution used in regeneration is subjected to an ammonium destruct process and then reused in regenerating ion-exchange columns. The water can then be sent through a final disinfection oxidation process to destroy or inactivate pathogens and/or remove any remaining colorants or odor to provide a water source suitable for almost any use.

An electrocoagulation system for removing contaminants from waste effluents comprising an electrocoagulation reactor having charged and uncharged plates and allowing serial flow of water therethrough. The reactor is connected to a voltage source to charge some of the plates positive and some negative, with uncharged plates between the positive and negative plates. The system allows waste water to enter the reactor for coagulation therein, the waste water leaving the reactor to enter a defoam tank for agitation which allows trapped bubbles to rise to the surface of the tank as foam. From the defoam tank, waste water goes through a sludge thickener, to allow sludge to settle at the bottom thereof and waste water is drawn off from the sludge thickener to flow to a clarifier. The pump removes sludge forming at the bottom of clarifier to take it back to the sludge thickener. The sludge is drawn out the bottom of the sludge thickener for transport to a press where most of the water is removed therefrom. Water is drawn off the top of the clarifier for transport to a conventional sewer system, or for reuse.

A system is provided for removing dissolved metals from industrial wastewater by electrocoagulation. The system includes an electrocoagulation reactor with a DC power supply having an insulation support enclosure with positive and negative electrode plates disposed thereon. The electrode plates are insulated for each other but remain in direct contact with the wastewater as it flows between the electrodes. The DC power supply induces opposite charges on alternate electrodes thereby generating an electric field between adjacent electrodes to cause the electrodes to ionize and go into solution for interaction with the contaminants in the wastewater as it flows through the reactor. The reactor is housed in a pressure vessel container so the exterior pressure on the reactor is higher than its internal pressure preventing leakage of fluids and oxygen and hydrogen gases produced in the reactor by decomposition of water. The pressure vessel allows higher operating pressures to retain higher concentrations of dissolved oxygen and hydrogen dispersed in the water for reaction with the contaminants. The electrical supply includes explosion proof connection housings for operation in hazardous environments. The system also includes a cyclone filter for separating the precipitated solid particles from the fluid and automatic control of the reactor by monitoring fluid flow, temperature, pH, and pressure.

The present invention relate to collecting colloidal solids in suspension for removal, for its drying and recovery, including in a scrubber as shown in my U.S. Pat. No. 6,180,012, where colloidal solids is made and is in suspension and in its clarifier located below, where some of the colloidal solids is washed down and is in suspension in desalinated seawater. Tubes with negative DC charge, attract build up of colloidal solids on their surfaces, and one loaded tube at the time is removed to a room or enclosure for drainage and drying with dry air. Thereafter the tube's DC charge is changed to positive, loosening the tube's grip and attraction to the colloidal solids which is blown through an outlet into a settling tank and down on a bottom screw conveyor that delivers the dry colloidal solids with little adhesion, to centrifuge for separation of the solids. From one of the solids is ammonia recycled for the process, which is important for saving cost, energy and production of C2. The present invention also relates to processes for further improving much desalination of potable seawater with less emission of CO2 and sterilization, flocculation and removal of organics all important for drinkable water by the present invented processes.
