Abstract: A method for preparing a cementing material by sintering and activating coal gangue is provided. The method includes the following steps: (1) crushing coarse-grained coal gangue to predetermined particle size; (2) fully and evenly mixing the crushed coal gangue, the composite additive and water according to a set proportion, and granulating the obtained mixture; (3) distributing, igniting and exhausting the granulated pellets in the sintering machine to obtain decarburized coal gangue sinter; (4) cooling the decarburized coal gangue sinter in a cooler; (5) crushing and finely grinding the cooled coal gangue sinter to obtain a coal gangue active mixture; and (6) mixing the coal gangue active admixture, the fly ash, the quicklime and the gypsum according to a predetermined ratio, and then carrying out injection moulding, mold removal and curing to obtain the coal gangue-based cementitious material.

Abstract: A method for treating a well in a hydrocarbon-producing subterranean production zone. The method for treating well-producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean production zone includes dry mixing a granite waste powder (GWP) in a form of rock aggregates and a cement to form a mixture. Then the mixture is added to the cement composition containing water, pre-hydrated sodium bentonite, calcium chloride, a dispersant, and an alcohol-based defoamer to form a cement slurry. The cement slurry is prepared at a density of from 13.5 pounds per gallon (ppg) to 14.5 ppg and contains the GWP in a range of from 5 wt. % to 20 wt. % of the cement slurry. 10 wt. % to 15 wt. % perlite is added into the cement slurry to form a ternary blend which is cured and then the cured product is injected into the well to seal the well at the subterranean production zone.

Abstract: The invention is directed to kits, compositions, tools and methods comprising a cyclic industrial process to form biocement. In particular, the invention is directed to materials and methods for decomposing calcium carbonate into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide at an elevated temperature, reacting calcium oxide with ammonium chloride to form calcium chloride, water, and ammonia gas; and reacting ammonia gas and carbon dioxide at high pressure to form urea and water, which are then utilized to form biocement. This cyclic process can be achieved by combining industrial processes with the resulting product as biocement. The process may involve retention of calcium carbonate currently utilized in the manufacture of Portland Cement.

Abstract: A process to use the tailings as construction material giving it waterproofing characteristics and reduce its cracking is presented. For example, to use the mining tailing as a construction material conceding to it impermeabilizing features, reducing its cracking and increasing its resistance. The main stages of said process are to apply a calcium-containing solution to the soil to be treated; apply a solution that that contains calcite-producing bacteria, to the soil to be treated; optionally, add maltodextrin; and stabilize, compact and dry off the mix.

Abstract: Trona-accelerated composition for backfilling trenches are described. The compositions consist of aggregate (e.g., sand), Portland cement, Trona, water and sometimes air. The compositions may have a compressive strength of between 10 psi and 100 psi after 4 hours, a compressive strength of between 75 psi and 500 psi after 28 days, and a penetration resistance of between 4.5 tsf and 200 tsf after 4 hours. Also disclosed are methods of filling a trench with fast-setting flowable fill.

Another example method includes mixing one or more organic components and one or more inorganic components with a kerogen precursor as an organic binder to obtain a mixture including artificial kerogen and processing the mixture to fabricate a synthetic source rock. One or more mechanical or chemo-mechanical properties of the synthetic source rock can be characterized as one or more functions of the one or more organic components and the one or more inorganic components.

Abstract: Concrete compositions containing cement, a fine aggregate such as sand, a coarse aggregate such as crushed limestone, an industrial waste material such as electric arc furnace dust, cement kiln dust, oil ash, or limestone powder. High performance concretes made therefrom and methods of producing such concretes are also specified. The addition of industrial waste materials and nano silica provides enhanced mechanical strength (e.g. compressive strength, flexural strength) and improved durability (e.g. resistance to penetration of chloride ions) to the high performance concretes.

Abstract: The synthetic recycled plastic aggregate for use in concrete is a composite material containing between 30% and 50% by weight shredded recycled plastic, the balance being a filler embedded in a matrix of the recycled plastic. The recycled plastic includes polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The filler can include dune sand, fly ash and quarry fines. The synthetic recycled plastic aggregate is best used to make concrete with a water-to-cement ratio of at least 0.5.
