摘要: A method of manufacturing an article using a powder bed fusion technique including depositing a first layer of a dry blend mixture on to a target surface, the dry blend mixture comprising a thermoplastic polymer powder and a stearate additive in a range of 2,000 ppm to 20,000 ppm; directing energy to the first layer of the dry blend mixture so as to melt and sinter at least portion of the first layer of the dry blend mixture; and successively depositing layers of the dry blend mixture and directing energy to the deposited layers so as to melt and sinter at least a portion of the successive layers to a prior layer to perform a layer-by-layer process until a three-dimensional structure is obtained.

摘要: Articles including repellent surfaces and methods of making and using these articles are disclosed. The repellant surface can comprise a polymer having a roughened surface and a fluorinated silane and a lubricating liquid deposited on the roughened surface. The repellent surface, and by extension the articles described herein, can exhibit superomniphobic properties. The methods for producing the repellant surface can comprise dissolving a polymer in a solvent to produce a polymer solution and optionally adding a non-solvent to the polymer solution to produce a casting mixture. The polymer solution or casting mixture can be deposited on a surface of a substrate and the solvent and/or the non-solvent evaporated to provide a coated-substrate having a roughened surface. A functional layer comprising a fluorinated silane followed by a lubricating liquid can be deposited on the roughened surface to form the repellant surface.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for reducing an amount of glass filaments separating from pellets comprising a thermoplastic polymer sheath intimately surrounding the glass filaments. The method can include transporting the pellets through a piping system and/or by a vibrating conveyor means. The pellets have a length of at least 13 mm. The amount of glass filaments separating from the pellets when such pellets are subjected to repetitive mechanical loads in transportation is reduced as compared other pellets subjected to the same repetitive mechanical load, such that blocking caused by the glass filaments within the pellet transport system is reduced or eliminated as compared to transporting pellets having a length of less than or equal to 12.1 mm.

摘要: The present invention provides polymer compositions having improved corrosivity, color stability and clarity. Also disclosed is a process of preparing the polymers. The process may comprise incorporating into the polymer an acid neutralizing amount of an amorphous aluminum silicate. The amorphous aluminum silicate may be present in the polymer in an amount such that the polymer composition having a Corrosivity Index of less than 6. A refractive index of the amorphous aluminum silicate may be the same or substantially the same as a refractive index of the polymer.

摘要: A fabrication method for a press hardened part is provided. A sheet or a steel substrate blank for heat treatment is provided. A pre-coating is applied. The pre-coating has at least one layer of aluminum or aluminum alloy in contact with the steel substrate on at least one of the principal faces of the sheet or blank. Then a polymerized layer is deposited on the pre-coating. The polymerized layer has a thickness between 2 and 30 μm. The polymerized layer does not contain silicon, has a nitrogen content of less than 1% by weight and carbon pigments in a quantity between 3 and 30% by weight. The blank or the sheet is heated to obtain an interdiffusion between the steel substrate and the pre-coating and to give the steel a partly or totally austenitic structure. Then the blank or the sheet is hot stamped to obtain a part. The part is cooled by holding the part in a stamping tool so that the microstructure of the steel substrate includes, at least in a portion of the part, martensite or bainite.
