    摘要： A process for converting coal tar containing quinoline-insoluble particles (Q.I.) produces a substantially Q.I.-free coal tar pitch and a separate, Q.I.-containing coal tar pitch. Dehydrated coal tar, soft coal tar pitch or hard coal tar pitch are subjected to continuous cross flow filtration in a circulation loop to obtain a substantially Q.I.-free stream and, concurrently, a Q.I.-containing stream. The two streams are then separately subjected to further fractionation, if any, to produce the substantially Q.I.-free hard coal tar pitch and separate Q.I.-containing hard coal tar pitch.

    摘要： Tars and hydrocarbon oils containing water are dehydrated in a thermally efficient and environmentally acceptable manner. The tars or hydrocarbon oils are heated externally to any holding vessel to a temperature equivalent to at least 100.degree. C. at atmospheric pressure and are sprayed into a holding vessel to enhance the separation of water from the tars or hydrocarbon oils. Then the water in the vapor state is removed from the holding vessel and scrubbed to remove any noxious chemicals.

    摘要： A process for the thermal dehydration of a bituminous emulsion with heat from exhaust steam while simultaneously condensing the exhaust steam is disclosed herein. The process comprises heating a stream of bituminous emulsion by heat transfer from partially cooled steam turbine exhaust steam, to vaporize low boiling materials, principally water, and condense the steam, separating the vapor from the bituminous emulsion to partially dehydrate the emulsion, heating the partially dehydrated emulsion to a higher temperature by heat transfer from the exhaust steam of the steam turbine to vaporize the remaining water, and separating the water vapors from the bituminous stream. Preferably the turbine exhaust steam is first reheated and utilized to heat the fully dehydrated bitumen emulsion prior to subjecting the bitumen to solid-liquid separation by cycloning.
