摘要: A lubricant composition includes a base oil present in an amount of greater than 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the lubricant composition and an antioxidant. The antioxidant has the structure: wherein each X is independently C-A or N, so long as at least one X is N but no more than two of X are N. Moreover, A is H, cyano or an electron donating group that: (1) has an atom having at least one lone pair of electrons that is bonded directly to the aromatic ring; or (2) is an aryl group or alkyl group. Further, each R is independently H, an alkyl group, or aryl group and each R′ is independently an alkyl group or an aryl group.

摘要: Disclosed are Group III base stocks comprising greater than or equal to about 90 wt. % saturated hydrocarbons (saturates); a viscosity index from 120 to 145; a unique ratio of molecules with multi-ring naphthenes to single ring naphthenes (2R+N/1RN); a unique ratio of branched carbons to straight chain carbons (BC/SC); a unique ratio of branched carbons to terminal carbons (BC/TC); and unique MRV behavior as a function of base stock naphthene ratio (2R+N/1RN). A method for preparing the base stocks is also disclosed. Also disclosed is a lubricating oil having the base stock as a major component, and an additive as a minor component.

摘要: An overrunning clutch which exhibits improved resistance to wear owing to grease filled thereinto which exhibits resistance to thermal oxidation even at increased temperatures due to overrunning. The overrunning clutch has a plurality of cam cases formed between its outer and inner members and also has a plurality of rollers arranged one by one in the cases. The cases are filled with a grease containing a first extreme pressure additive which is liquid and a second extreme pressure additive which is solid and yet melts at a prescribed temperature. Below the prescribed temperature, only the first extreme pressure additive functions as a lubricant, so that the rollers permit the engagement of the outer and inner members for the transmission of turning force from one member to the other. When the prescribed temperature is reached in the overrunning state, the second extreme pressure additive melts to function as a lubricant, thereby preventing the rollers from wearing. The second extreme pressure additive is halogen-based and decomposes below the ignition point of grease, thereby exhibiting flame retardance. Therefore, it also protects grease from thermal oxidation when the grease is heated to a temperature close to its ignition point.

摘要: A gear part of the present invention includes a lubrication coating formed on a surface of the gear part, the lubrication coating containing an organic phosphorous compound. In the gear part, when a tooth surface of the gear part is engaged with a tooth surface of a counter member, the organic phosphorous compound is transferred to the tooth surface of the counter member and another lubrication coating containing the organic phosphorous compound is formed on the tooth surface of the counter member. As a result, the lubrication coating can be held on the surface of the gear part for long periods.

The polymer has the repeat unit: where the number (n) of repeat units is an integer between 4 and 500, such as between 4 and 400. The polymer carries an inorganic or organic nucleophilic polymerisation terminating group (t), and an initiator group (i) connected to the N atom of a repeat unit, the initiator group (i) being effective to initiate the polymerisation of linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl moieties. R1 comprises a single or a mixture of linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl groups having 1-50 carbon atoms, some or all having 12-50 carbon atoms, or of at least one macro-monomeric hydrocarbyl group with more than 50 carbon atoms.
