Process for the improvement of fibrous materials, particularly in the finishing of textiles, by the use of silicones and hardening accelerators, which comprises treating the materials with aqueous emulsions of silicones and using as hardening accelerators an addition compound of aminoalkyltrifluorosilane and hydrofluoric acid. The fibrous materials thus treated exhibit an excellent and lasting water repellence and a high resistance to rubbing off of colors.

An aqueous siloxane-in-water emulsion containing (A) a polydiorganosiloxane having terminal --OX radicals in which X is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxyalkyl, and at least two amino-containing substituents per molecule, (B) a siloxane containing silicon-hydrogen groups, (C) one or more nonionic and/or cationic emulsifying agents and (D) magnesium sulphate or sodium sulphate. The compositions can be applied to keratinous fibres by an exhaustion technique to render the fibres resistant to shrinkage during laundering.

New fluorine-containing organopolysiloxanes are provided which are obtained by reaction in known manner of organopolysiloxanes which contain hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon, a perfluoroalkyl compound for the formulaR.sub.f -- SO.sub.2 -- NH -- CH.sub.2 -- CH = CH.sub.2wherein R.sub.f represents perfluoroalkyl with 6 to 14 carbon atoms, and optionally a fluorine-free vinyl monomer. These new addition products are useful as oil- and water repellents for fibrous textile materials.
