    摘要: A motor vehicle door handle assembly combining the use of a counterweight to preclude inadvertent opening movement of the door in a side impact scenario and the ability to install the handle assembly from outside of the vehicle by passing the handle assembly through an aperture in an outer skin of the door. The handle assembly includes a housing; a handle mounted for opening and closing movement on the housing; an actuator mechanism operative in response to opening movement of the handle to unlatch a latch mechanism of the door and allow opening of the door; and a counterweight. The counterweight is mounted on the housing for movement between an installation position within a profile of the housing, to facilitate installation of the handle assembly in a motor vehicle door by insertion of the handle assembly through an aperture in an outer skin, and an operative position in juxtaposition to the actuator mechanism in which it is operative in response to an impact against the side of the vehicle proximate the door handle assembly to resist movement of actuator mechanism in a door unlatching direction. Following passage of the handle assembly through the aperture in the door with the counterweight in its installation position, the handle member is moved relative to the housing to release the counterweight and allow it to be moved to its operative position under the biasing of the handle assembly return spring which normally acts to yieldably resist opening movement of the handle. The counterweight in its operative position pushes against the actuator mechanism but is free to move away from the actuator mechanism so as not to act to urge the actuator mechanism in a door unlatching direction in response to an impact against the side of the vehicle remote from the door handle assembly.

    摘要: A latching assembly that requires three distinct operations must be performed with two hands to allow the handle of the latch assembly to be rotated to unlock a door from a door frame. The assembly provides substantial flexibilities in installation. A base portion having a sleeve which defines an aperture is secured to a door and receives a handle portion with a shaft attached, the shaft extending through the aperture defined by the sleeve. Cooperative rotation restriction portions on the handle and on the base portion restrict the motion of the handle to a limited rotation range. The limited rotation range may be altered by selectively positioning a key guide in one of the cooperative rotation restriction portions. A first release mechanism comprising a trigger portion which extends from the handle and a detent which engages a detent opening in the base portion requires depression of the trigger portion before rotation of the handle to an unlatched position. The detent mechanism is within the handle and a cap containes and encloses the detent mechanism. The cap portion has a bore which receives a second release mechanism which has a shaft portion that may be exteriorly manipulated to move an obstructing member into and out of an obstructing relation with the detent. Thus, the second release mechanism must be manipulated to allow release of the trigger portion which must be depressed to allow rotation of the handle. The cap portion is secured in the handle by screws or other threaded members extending from the handle base portion interface into the cap.

    摘要: An hand adjustable trim actuator for use with an exit device is provided. The trim actuator uses an actuator shaft with attached actuator gear to engage one of two sets of gear teeth on a linearly moveable retractor. Actuation of the door lever rotates a spindle which has two tabs, one of which pushes the retractor. The engagement of the retractor gear teeth with the actuator gear causes the actuator gear and actuator shaft to rotate which in turn operates the exit device. The actuator shaft and actuator gear are moveably linearly which permits the actuator gear to be disengaged from the retractor gear teeth. Once disengaged, the actuator gear can be rotated and moved into engagement with the other of the two sets of gear teeth, thereby changing the handing of the trim actuator.
