    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling an air input in a rotary engine, including selectively controlling a plurality of inlet ports communicating with an internal combustion cavity of the engine, the ports located serially downstream of the exhaust port relative direction of a revolution of a rotor of the engine. The inlet ports are controlled to alter air intake at various engine operational stages, such as start up, idle, etc., to allow for varying operational requirements to be met. For example: when a power demand on the engine lower than a predetermined threshold, control may be effected by opening a primary inlet port and closing a secondary inlet port; and, when the power demand exceeds the predetermined threshold, control may be effected by opening the primary inlet port and opening the secondary inlet port, the secondary inlet port being located such as to be in communication with the exhaust port throughout portions of the revolution of the engine to purge exhaust gases of the engine.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods are provided for controlling a double-acting hydraulic cylinder during a load-induced rod-extending operation, where the cylinder is activated by fluid supplied from a reservoir by a pump, and the cylinder has a rod end, a head end, a piston connected to a rod for engaging the load, the cylinder piston being urged toward the rod end by the load during the operation. The apparatus includes a cylinder activating circuit including an activation valve for providing a flow path from the pump to the cylinder head end; a flow regeneration circuit fluidly connecting the cylinder rod end and the cylinder head end and configured for providing flow from the cylinder rod end to the cylinder head end during rod extension, the regeneration circuit including a regeneration flow valve; and a controller operatively connected to the regeneration flow valve and the activation valve, the controller being responsive to rod-extending rate demands from an operator to control the activation valve to provide flow from the pump to the head end and to control the regeneration valve to provide flow from the rod end to the head end. The cylinder activating circuit also includes a return flow path and a return valve positioned in the return flow path and configured to control flow from the cylinder rod end to the fluid reservoir. Both the activation valve and the return valve are controllable by the controller independently from the regeneration flow valve.

    摘要: A torque control for a fluid operated motor includes a first gear to be driven through operation of the motor and a second gear in driving engagement with said motor and maintained in a generally stationary position during normal operation thereof. The torque control further includes a drive mechanism connected to the first gear and to a load to be rotationally driven through operation of the motor. A valve is provided in the fluid supply to the motor to open and close the supply of fluid thereto. Disconnect means is operatively connected to the second gear and the valve to maintain said valve in an open position to permit supply of fluid to said motor when the second gear is stationary. The second gear rotates when the torque required from the motor to rotate the load exceeds a predetermined magnitude to move the disconnect means relative to the valve to close the valve to terminate the supply of fluid to the motor.

In one embodiment, the partial state condenser receives a working fluid, and includes a sense reservoir that holds the working fluid, a reservoir sensor that senses an electrical property of the working fluid, and a reservoir valve that is in fluid communication with the sense reservoir. The partial state condenser yet further includes a processor configured to execute instructions to determine a specific energy of the working fluid based on the electrical property of the working fluid. The processor is also configured to execute instructions to control the reservoir valve to regulate a flow of a portion of the working fluid from the sense reservoir based on the specific energy of the working fluid to maintain a two-phase saturation state associated with a saturation point within the partial state condenser based on the electrical property.
