    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for degassing a cooling system for an internal combustion engine (1), in which a coolant is brought to circulate on the one hand in a cooling circuit between the engine and a radiator unit (2) and on the other between the engine and a bypass circuit, past the radiator unit. The coolant is hereby controlled, in dependence of the temperature, to flow through the cooling circuit and/or the bypass circuit, and the degassing is performed through draining off a limited coolant flow. The degassing is achieved by draining off of a limited portion of that coolant flow which is brought to flow through the bypass circuit, and is thus performed in dependence of the coolant temperature.

    摘要: A valve in the flow aperture of a removable coolant reservoir enables coolant to flow between the reservoir and a coolant system while preventing the coolant in the reservoir from spilling when the reservoir is disconnected from the coolant system. A filling tube with a lower end and an air escape passage discourage users from overfilling the reservoir. Once the coolant level reaches the lower end, fluid accumulates in the filling tube, thereby indicating to the user that the reservoir is full. The air escape passage then gradually allows displaced air to escape and coolant in the filling tube to enter the reservoir. An overflow port and tube attached to the filling tube divert excess coolant away from the reservoir. A bleed tube, a bleed port, and a barrier in the reservoir remove bubbles from the coolant system and prevent the removed bubbles from reentering the coolant system.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for controlling a cooling fan in a vehicle engine compartment, such as a tractor or combine. A fan control receives inputs from sensors and uses the sensor inputs in determining fan speeds which meet cooling needs while limiting fan energy consumption. Sensor data include at least one of PTO and transmission settings, throttle command and engine speed, and fan speed and air conditioner settings. Sensor data is received and processed in the fan control, which sends the greatest determined fan speed to a fan actuator. When the PTO is activated and the transmission is in park, fan speed can be controlled according to an alternate coolant temperature table. When throttle command is zero and engine speed is above a maximum, fan speed is set at maximum. When air conditioning is activated, fan speed is set at least at a predetermined minimum speed.

The method comprises a step of determining the temperature of the cooling liquid, a step of comparing the temperature of the cooling liquid with a first threshold temperature, and a step of regulating the fluid circulation in the degassing bypass hose such that, when the fluid temperature is higher than the first threshold, the amount of fluid circulating in the bypass hose is greater than the amount circulating in that same bypass hose when the fluid temperature is lower than the first threshold temperature. The invention also concerns a device for cooling a motor vehicle engine.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for controlling the amount of water in the vapor of multiple zones of a calcination or oxidation operation have been developed. The process begins with calibration of a vessel housing a capacitance probe. The level of water in a vessel housing the capacitance probe is adjusted so as to immerse from about 5 to about 15 percent of the probe and measuring and recording an initial capacitance, CI. A measured amount of vapor is passed through a condenser, the condensed water is conducted to the vessel and a final capacitance, CF, is measured and recorded. The change in capacitance is calculated, &Dgr;C=(CF−CI), and the difference, &Dgr;C, is used along with the calibration to determine the amount of water condensed. With the amount of water condensed and the measured amount of vapor passed through the vessel, the amount of water in the vapor may be readily calculated. An operating parameter of the calcination or oxidation operation is adjusted to maintain the moisture content in the zones within a predetermined range.

    摘要: An engine cooling system for an automotive vehicle including a liquid coolant deaeration and overflow bottle having plural cells constituting a degassing chamber assembly with the first cell having only an upper fluid inlet for initially receiving liquid coolant from the engine cooling system and a lower flow-through window which leads into an adjacent cell for receiving coolant from the first cell. The other cells are likewise connected together in series and the final cell has an outlet connected back into the engine cooling system. Coolant in the cells of the degassing chamber assembly creates a liquid trap arrangement to prevent any substantial back flow of accumulated air from the deaeration chamber assembly back into the engine's cooling system when engine operation is terminated. Most importantly, this prevents any formation of air bubbles in the heater core circuit which may restrict coolant flow and seriously degrade heater effectiveness, particularly at idle and low engine speed operation.
