Abstract: A power transmission belt includes a belt body made of an elastomer, and a cord made of carbon fibers and embedded in the belt body. The belt tension T0.2 per 1 mm belt width at 0.2% of a belt extension rate is 70 N/mm or more. The belt tension T0.5 per 1 mm belt width at 0.5% of the belt extension rate is 220 N/mm or more. The ratio of the belt tension T0.2 to the belt tension T0.5 is 0.33 or more.

Abstract: A belt for use on a long nip press for dewatering a fibrous web includes a base assembled by spirally winding a prepared structure strip in a plurality of non-overlapping turns. Successive turns are abutted against and joined to those previously wound by sewing or otherwise bonding along the continuous spiral seam thus formed. The prepared structure strip may be a fabric strip woven from lengthwise and crosswise yarns, which may be monofilament yarns of a synthetic polymeric resin. The fabric strip may be of either a single- or multi-layer weave. At least one side of the base, namely, that side which will be on the inside of the belt in its endless loop form, and which slides over the arcuate pressure shoe component of the long nip press during its operation, is coated with a polymeric resin, such as polyurethane, to render it impervious to liquids, and especially to the oil used to lubricate the surface of the arcuate pressure shoe. The coating is ground and buffed to provide the belt with a smooth surface and a uniform thickness.

Abstract: An endless metal belt assembly is made with opposing adjacent belt surfaces that may contain a roughened surface containing protuberances, indentations and/or pits and are configured such that a lubricant can be held and circulated between the adjacent surfaces. The roughened surface may be formed by an electroforming process in which one or more components of the electroforming bath and the operating parameters of the electroforming bath are adjusted to create the protuberances, indentations and/or pits. A belt assembly formed in this manner is useful as a driving member for a continuously variable transmission.
