摘要： An improved valve stem gasket comprising a flat-shaped gasket with a central aperture wherein the durometer of the gasket varies from a relatively low hardness value in the inner portion of the gasket extending radially outward from the central aperture to a relatively higher hardness value at the radially outer portion of the gasket whereat the gasket will be contacted by the upper wall portion of the valve housing. In a preferred form of the gasket, the variation in durometer value will be gradually varied from the inner portion of the gasket to the radially outer portion of the gasket.

摘要： A metal gasket for a high performance of an engine includes two sheets of elastic metal substrates providing a bead on peripheral portion of a cylinder opening and an annular thin metal plate that is thinner than the elastic metal substrates and surrounds the cylinder opening and is arranged between the substrates. The annular thin metal plate is fixed on the substrate by inserting an engaging portion solidly projected from the outside periphery into a slit formed on the substrate and folding the plate. Due to the thin metal plate, the cylinder opening peripheral portion has a high seal contact pressure in contrast to other locations. Moreover, the contact pressure of the cylinder opening peripheral portion becomes uniform.

摘要： Provided is a structure for joining a first part (e.g., a part constituted by a cylinder head and a front cover of an automotive internal combustion engine) having a pair of first and second internal joining surfaces meeting at right angles and a second part (e.g., a part constituted by a cam bracket of the engine) having a pair of first and second external joining surfaces meeting at right angles in such a manner that the first and second internal joining surfaces are respectively joined with the first and second external joining surfaces by interposing therebetween sealant for thereby providing a seal between the first internal joining surface and the first external joining surface and between the second internal joining surface and the second external joining surface. A pair of depressions are provided to the first external joining surface. A pair of projections are provided to the first internal joining surface for insertion into the depressions and thereby positioning the second part relative to the first part. A pair of slanted guide grooves are provided to inner circumferential surfaces of the depressions for guiding insertion of the projections into the depressions, respectively. Each of the guide grooves is disposed between each of the depressions and an edge at which the first and second external joining surfaces meet, and formed so as to expand each of the depressions increasingly toward an open end of each of the depressions.

摘要： Glass-ceramic sealants for ceramic membrane reactors, ceramic membrane sealed to holders or substrates and methods of making seals between two ceramic materials or between a ceramic and a metal or metal alloy are provided. These sealants combine silicate glass-ceramic materials with selected metal oxides and, optionally, materials similar or identical to the materials being sealed, and employ thermal processing so that the resultant materials will have a thermal expansion coefficient that substantially matches the thermal expansion coefficients of the two materials. Surfaces of the ceramic sealant that are exposed to reactive atmospheres can be protected by providing a metal or metallic alloy layer over the ceramic seal.

摘要： A metal gasket is designed so that mounting and removal from a cylinder block using a bolt is easy regardless of the direction of the attaching surface and there is no risk of moving or drop off. The gasket is made of two laminated metal base plates. At a base plate part near a bolt hole of one metal base plate, a bolt engaging piece projects so that the diameter of the bolt hole is smaller than the diameter of the bolt for fastening, and an assistant piece for handling is integrated thereto. At the base plate part of the other plate overlapping the assistant piece, a cut recess is formed. When inserting the bolt into the bolt hole of the metal gasket, the bolt engaging piece is struck against the bolt and is elastically bent, and allows the bolt to pass. The gasket mounted on the bolt is kept at the mounting position by the pressing action to the bolt from the impact resilience force of the bolt engaging piece. Furthermore, the metal gasket can easily be removed in such a way that the assistant piece is held with a fingertip or the like and the bolt engaging piece is separated from the screw part of the bolt. The recess of the metal base plate is useful for making the handling of the assistant piece easy.
