摘要： An attachment or accessory water heater for mounting on the exhaust gas flue of a gas-fired water heater such as those sold for domestic use. There is usually a considerable space above domestic water heaters as ordinarily installed and the exhaust gas flue of such heaters ordinarily traverses this space. It is proposed by this invention to use much of the heat otherwise dissipated through the exhaust flue to preheat, or superheat, the water. The accessory heater is essentially a heat exchanger conduit of considerable capacity capable of encircling the exhaust flue and having means for connection in series in the piping of the main heater, the conduit having thermal insulation to inhibit loss of heat to the atmosphere.

摘要： Apparatus interposed in a smoke flue between a furnace and a chimney for recovering energy from smoke and heating water therewith. A tank contains a volume of water to be heated. A water inlet and a water outlet supply cold water to the tank and discharge heated water. A plurality of heat exchanging tubes extends through the interior of the tank such that the ends communicate with opposite exterior surfaces of the tank or extend outwardly therefrom. A plurality of sleeves, one for each tube, has an outside diameter slightly less than the inside diameter of the tubes such that each sleeve is positioned within one of the tubes in concentric manner and sealed to the ends of the tube to define an annular air space there-between. Expanding and reducing elements provide gaseous communication between the flue and the plurality of sleeves. The sum of the cross-sectional areas of the plurality of sleeves equals or exceeds the cross-sectional area of the smoke flue such that normal convection of smoke within the flue is not restricted. The sleeves have a plurality of small apertures therethrough, thereby permitting limited gaseous communication with the annular air space for greater heat exchanging efficiency. A by-pass flue, first normally-open damper in the smoke flue between the expanding element and the by-pass flue and a second normally-closed damper in the by-pass flue change positions and divert smoke through the by-pass flue when the water in the tank is heated to a predetermined temperature.

摘要： An economizer having a structure capable of efficiently warming water and facilitating inspection and cleaning is obtained.
In an economizer for warming water by combustion exhaust gas generated by a boiler, to a cylindrical water pipe in which an inflow port and an outflow port are formed on a side surface and through which the water passes, a plurality of gas pipes erected for circulating the combustion exhaust gas are arranged in corresponding fan-shaped portions of the water pipe. The combustion exhaust gas introduced from a bottom surface side of the water pipe folds back at an upper part of the water pipe and flows downward, then folds back at a lower part of the water pipe, flows upward, and flows out from an upper surface side of the water pipe, whereby the plurality of gas pipes efficiently warms the water in the water pipe.-

摘要： An economizer system for preheating feed or return water in a high pressure steam or hot water smoke-tube boiler having a smoke-heated convection-effecting portion. The smoke tubes at the end of the smoke tube convection-effecting portion are surrounded by a jacket with staggered baffle plates penetrated by the smoke tubes so as to form a wavy or serpentine flow channel for the feed or return water in forced counterflow to the flue gas. The jacket may be encircled by a second jacket forming a chamber which may be filled with insulating material or form a preheater in the water supply system to the flow channel of the economizer.
