The method may include determining the weight distributions from a database of weight functions using a predetermined rule or an expert system.

Disclosed are a single-vision aspherical spectacle lens to correct eyesight and a processing method thereof. The spectacle lens has front and back surfaces, one of which is an aspherical surface. A framing reference point that is coincident with a pupil position of a user when the lens is installed on a frame is decentered from a geometrical center of an uncut circular lens (a semifinished lens blank or an uncut finished lens). Further, the symmetric axis of the aspherical surface passes the framing reference point. With this construction, a lens blank of small-size can be employed for manufacturing a spectacle lens for a large-size frame, and the optical performance can be kept high.

A dichroic dye can be blended with a non-dichroic dye (melanin and melanin derivatives) and still maintain a commercially acceptable level of polarizing efficiency. Efficient polarizers exhibit polarizing efficiencies of greater or equal to 95% and the best are even greater than or equal to 98%. Since melanin has unique features with respect to absorption of wavelengths of light, melanin is very useful to have in combination with a polarizer that takes advantage of this absorption. The blending can be done by a mixture (preferably an aqueous mixture) of melanin and a dichroic dye in a ratio sufficient to achieve the desired color and polarizing effect.

Disclosed devices include intraocular lenses, corneal inlays, ocular drug delivery devices and implants for reducing intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients; intraocular lenses are preferred.

In an example, an arc length measured along the anterior surface is equal to a sum of arc lengths measured along a relief surface and the base surface. In another example, a surface area of the anterior surface is equal to a sum of surface areas on the relief surface and the base surface. In addition, contact lenses are disclosed that satisfy these constraints, and instructions for performing the methods are stored on computer readable media.
