The present invention discloses a negative planographic printing plate precursor for infrared exposure having an image recording layer containing an infrared absorbing agent, a radical generator and a radical polymerizable compound on a support characterized in that a sensitivity ratio (S1/S60) of a sensitivity (S60) when developed 60 minutes after infrared laser exposure to a sensitivity (S1) when developed one minute after exposure is at least 0.5 and less than 1.0 in the image recording layer. It is preferable that this composition contains a polymer compound which has a functional group having high radical reactivity and can be dissolved or swollen in water or an aqueous alkali solution.

In accordance with the present invention, there are provided high performance, photoimageable resin compositions for flexographic printing, having excellent physical properties, e.g., resilience, hardness, toughness, and the like, as well as increased rates of cure upon exposure to radiation. In a further aspect of the invention, there are provided printing plates prepared employing invention compositions, wherein said printing plates are characterized as having excellent exposure sensitivity, the capability of rapidly curing upon exposure, excellent retention of fine details, and excellent colorless performance. Moreover, printing plates prepared employing invention compositions have good flexibility, excellent washout properties, and retain such properties over extended periods of storage. In another aspect of the invention, there are provided methods for the preparation of formulations comprising said compositions and methods for use thereof.

A dry film photoresist having a glass transition temperature (Tg) above room temperature. The dry film photoresist is tack free. An artwork may be placed directly on the photoresist without concern that the artwork may stick to the dry film photoresist or become contaminated with photoresist. The dry film photoresist may be laminated on a support sheet and wound into a roll without concern that the photoresist will stick to the backside of the support sheet. The dry film photoresist also has reduced cold flow problems.

A photosensitive constituent for a flexographic printing plate comprising a polyester film as support (B) and a photosensitive elastomer composition (C) and having an adhesive layer (A) therebetween, wherein the photosensitive elastomer composition (C) comprises, as essential components, (a) 50% by weight or more of at least one thermoplastic elastomer comprising the reaction product of a mono-vinyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon monomer and a conjugated diene monomer, (b) 5 to 40% by weight of at least one diene-based liquid rubber, (c) 1 to 20% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound having 2 unsaturated bonds within its molecule, and (d) 0.1 to 3% by weight of at least one photopolymerization initiator, and wherein (1) the thermoplastic elastomer has an average ratio of vinyl bond units in conjugated diene segments thereof of 10 to 20 mol % and (2) the liquid rubber has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 500 to 5,000 and an average ratio of vinyl bond units of 50 to 70 mol %. This is a photosensitive constituent for a flexographic printing plate which provides good fine dot-forming properties and a good printing quality in a printing process, which enables tackiness of the plate surface to be removed by post-exposure treatment with ease, while avoiding formation of cracks in the plate surface and, at the same time, has sufficiently strong adhesion between the photosensitive resin layer and its polyester film support to avoid trouble under actual printing conditions, and which is stable over time.

The present invention provides a negative-working presensitized plate useful for preparing a lithographic printing plate having a negative-working photosensitive layer on an aluminum substrate, which comprises an intermediate layer comprising a compound having at least one diazonium group and molecular weight of 1000 or less formed between said photosensitive layer and said aluminum substrate. The lithographic printing plate prepared from the negative-working presensitized plate of the present invention shows excellent adhesiveness between a substrate and a photosensitive layer and does not cause contamination in non-imaging areas during printing operation, while maintaining high sensitivity, sensitive range and performance of the photosensitive layer.
