摘要: An electro-conductive layer of an electrophotographic electro-conductive member has a matrix-domain structure. The matrix contains a first rubber. The domain contains a second rubber and electro-conductive particles. Where μ represents an average of ratios of the cross-sectional area of the electro-conductive particles contained in each of the domains to the cross-sectional area of each of the domains appearing on a cross-section of the electro-conductive layer in a thickness direction, and σ represents a standard deviation of the ratios, σ/μ is 0 or more and 0.4 or less, and μ is 20% or more and 40% or less. At least eight of samples with a first cubic shape 9 μm on a side, which are sampled at arbitrary nine positions on the electro-conductive layer, satisfy the specified condition.

摘要: A deformation imaging system including an imaging member comprising a layer of a surface deformable material, a layer of an elastomer material, and means for establishing an imagewise electrical field across at least the surface deformable material layer and/or the elastomer layer. Embodiments wherein the surface deformable material layer and the elastomer layer are adjacent each other and embodiments wherein these layers are separated from each other are described. 摘要: Embodiments pertain to a method of creating an electrostatic latent image through use of an electrostatic latent image generating device comprising a single exposing device for selectively exposing a surface of the electrostatic imaging member to light, and a single electrostatic charging device for charging the surface of the electrostatic imaging member, wherein the exposing device is located before the electrostatic charging device such that the exposing the surface of the electrostatic imaging member to light precedes the charging the surface of the electrostatic imaging member and wherein charge is not accepted by the exposed surface of the electrostatic imaging member and the charge is accepted by the unexposed surface of the electrostatic imaging member.

摘要: A photoconductive layer is formed on the entire outer peripheral surface of a light transmissive drum, and a conductive layer is formed on the photoconductive layer and is made up of a plurality of strip-like conductive portions. Provided around the drum are a tank for storing thermo-melting ink, a blade which removes surplus ink on the outer peripheral surface of the drum, a drier for drying the ink filling the gaps between the conductive portions in the conductive layers, a platen roller which presses against the outer peripheral surface of the drum with a sheet of recording paper in between, and a light source which is provided inside the drum, facing the inner peripheral surface thereof. When the light source is selectively operated in accordance with image information, current is made to flow between the conductive portions in the conductive layer via the photoconductive layer at image recording areas, thus causing the ink filling the gap to be transferred to the recording paper.

摘要: The record carrier according to the invention comprises a substrate on which an electrode is provided which, on the side remote from the substrate, has a low-ohmic photoconductive layer which is covered with a second transparent electrode which is provided wihh a thermoplastic layer. For storing information the electrodes are connected to a voltage source and the thermoplastic layer is charged electrostatically and exposed in known manner. Upon exposure of an area of the thermoplastic layer, the light will fall through the transparent electrode on the low-ohmic photoconductive layer. As a result of the current passage, Joulean heat is produced which heats the thermoplastic layer in the place of the exposed area and softens it thereby deforming the layer by electrostatic forces in accordance with the charge.The thermoplastic layer may, in known manner, also have photoconductive properties or be provided with a further photoconductive layer.

摘要: A thermal imaging device having a print surface adapted to provide localised heating to a medium comprising a thermally activatable component of an imaging forming system, the device comprising the following sequential layers:(a) a transparent or semi-transparent electrically conductive layer,(b) a photoconductive layer which when illuminated by radiation of 633 nm wavelength and intensity of 4.0.times.10.sup.6 W/m.sup.2 has a conductivity of at least 0.01 S/cm and a photosensitive ratio of at least 1.times.10.sup.3,(c) an electrically conductive layer in electrical contact with the photoconductive layer (b) and in contact with:(d) an abrasion-resistant wear layer, or,(e) a layer comprising said thermally activatable component of an image forming system;wherein the layers are constructed and arranged such that when a voltage potential is applied across layers (a) and (c) and the device is exposed through layer (a), the exposed areas of layer (b) become conductive enhancing current flow and generating heat in layer (b) at points corresponding to the exposed areas and causing localised heating at the adjacent areas of the print surface sufficient to thermally activate said component of an image forming system. The thermal imaging devices are suitable for developing thermally sensitive paper or effecting thermal transfer of a colourant, dye, toner or other image forming material.
