Abstract: The present invention is an actuator that may be used to service a vehicle, where the actuator engages an accelerator pedal of the vehicle and can control the pedal remotely using a vehicle service module or tech station that automatically carries out a vehicle engine service. The actuator comprises a member that uses a linear actuator to engage the vehicle's accelerator pedal and controls the speed of the engine using feedback directly from the engine's ECU or other direct engine input. The pedal actuator include input cables that receive signals from the remote service module to adjust the speed of the engine to optimize a service performance. The data from the engine can include temperature, pressure, RPMs, and various other inputs depending on the service to be performed. The present invention allows the service technician to control the engine without the need for a second tech to apply pressure to the accelerator and monitor the engine speed.

Abstract: A manual interface device is disclosed. The manual interface device can include a first interface component attachable to a manually controllable mechanism. The first interface component can have a first interface surface defining a protrusion or a recess. In addition, the manual interface device can include a second interface component attachable to a human operator. The second interface component can have a second interface surface defining the other of the protrusion or the recess to engage with the first interface surface sufficient to transfer force to operate the manually controllable mechanism. The first and second interface components can be magnetically attracted to one another to maintain engagement of the first and second interface surfaces during operation of the manually controllable mechanism while facilitating selective disengagement of the first and second interface surfaces by the operator.

Abstract: A drive assistance device for a backhoe loader vehicle has an elongated bar member having a hook or post component at its lower end which is configured to be placed around or adjacent to the directional control pedal of a hydrostatically controlled backhoe loader vehicle. The elongated bar member has a handle at its upper end to allow the vehicle operator to grasp the bar member. When the lower end of the bar member is connected to the pedal, the bar member extends up to the operator, who can then easily and safely control the movement of the pedal, allowing it to be placed in neutral to maintain the vehicle in a stationary position while digging is being done, and to be moved ahead, while safely operating the steering wheel, to move the vehicle in the appropriate forward direction.

Abstract: A system for use by a physically impaired driver for controlling a vehicle includes an actuator assembly operably coupled to the pedals. The actuator assembly includes a pair of electrical motors operable through a rack and linkage arrangement to depress the brake pedal, and a third electric motor operable through a rack and linkage arrangement to depress the accelerator pedal. The actuator assembly is pivotably mounted above the pedals to pivot when the brake pedal is depressed. A joystick controller is mounted to the steering wheel of the vehicle and is operable in a predetermined direction to control braking and acceleration, while allowing vehicle steering to be accomplished with the existing steering wheel.

Abstract: An auxiliary knob used in conjunction with camera focusing knobs to improve the focusing operation and improve access for focusing. An elastomeric body includes a recess frictionally receiving the camera focusing knob, and a knob turning surface defined upon the elastomeric body of a diameter substantially greater than the diameter of the camera focusing knob reduces the effort required for focusing and improves knob access. Reduced wall thickness lips and rims defined on the auxiliary knob facilitate cooperation with the camera focusing knob and improve the knob handling characteristics.

Abstract: Embodiments herein are directed to a pedal assembly. The pedal assembly includes a housing, a pedal arm, at least one elongated member, and at least one strain gauge sensor. The pedal arm has a pedal pad on one end. The at least one elongated member is positioned within a cavity and configured to deflect upon a movement by the pedal arm caused from a load applied to the pedal pad. The at least one strain gauge sensor is positioned in communication with the at least one elongated member and configured to sense an amount of the deflection of the at least one elongated member. When the load is applied to the pedal pad, the pedal arm moves and deflects the at least one elongated member, which is sensed by the respective at least one strain gauge sensor indicative of an amount of load applied to the pedal pad.
