    摘要: A vandal resistant, remotely programmable voice communications unit is capable of being programmed for automatically calling predetermined telephone numbers. The unit is programmed remotely from any touch-tone telephone. A vandal-resistant push-button actuator employs first and second axially spaced apart, slidable seals on a push-button mounted within a housing. The seals absorb transverse blows to a raised portion of the push-button and a lubricant is disposed between the seals to prevent an adhesive inserted by a vandal from disabling the actuator. A speaker and microphone baffle utilizes offset passageways to inhibit the introduction of a pointed object therethrough to prevent damage to the speaker or microphone. A raised push-button actuator is disposed inwardly of an escutcheon and shaped to form a concave, ring-shaped surface therewith, thus to inhibit damage to the inner surface of the escutcheon from a hammer blow. A vandal-resistant pole mounting device clamps about the pole and is fastened by means of a fastener enclosed within a vandal-resistant housing, thus to prevent tampering with the fastener by a vandal in order to prevent removal of the housing and the mounting device from the pole.

    摘要: A vandal-resistant telephone communications station having a one-piece face plate enclosure with a speaker phone aperture and a plurality of additional apertures therein. A plurality of call push-buttons and an answer push-button are respectively carried in the additional apertures. These buttons are of unique construction and are provided with resilient seals to prevent the insertion of foreign matter around the button, and each button is spring biased to its inoperative position. The call push-buttons control automatic signalling units within the face plate enclosure, and these units automatically generate an output signal at the location being called only during the time the push-button is held in its operative position. The answer push-button operates in similar fashion and is used to respond to an incoming call.

A coefficient of friction is defined between the latching surface and a surface of the latch plate interengaged therewith, the coefficient of friction U being correlated with the distances A and B to follow the relationship U.gtoreq. B/A. In this manner, the lever may be easily pivoted from its latching position to unlatch the plate.

    摘要: A variable electromechanical device, such as a rotary potentiometer, incls a housing with a sleeve having a bore through which an actuation shaft extends. The shaft is provided with an annular groove. A portion of the sleeve is displaced by stamping so that it extends into the annular groove of the shaft to prevent axial movement of the latter. A projection formed on the shaft within the annular groove cooperates with the displaced portion of the sleeve for limiting the rotation of the shaft. A lubricating and braking liquid of high viscosity is filled in the groove, and one or more passages are formed on the projection so that the liquid can pass from one side of the projection to the other side thereof when the shaft is rotated.

Unit bearing type of motor includes a polarized magnetic body that forms part of the rotor assembly and is rotatable within a lubricant reservoir of the motor. Oil reservoir cover is formed of a non-ferromagnetic material. The polarized magnetic body establishes a magnetic field that extends beyond the confines of the motor and causes similar movement of a polarized magnetic body in the control device. The control device and motor are modular units and may be manufactured and transported as individually complete or assembled components.

    摘要: A rocker-type electrical switch of the kind known as a "quiet switch" includes a manually depressible rocker having two opposed contact surfaces at a small angle to each other from which rocker depends a rocker arm terminating in a rocker cam. A slider positioned intermediately of the rocker and the rocker cam is moved back and forth by side-to-side movements of the rocker arm and opens and closes one or more pairs of contacts. Rocker movement is controlled by a rocker cam leaf spring engaging the rocker cam which spring has a cammed profile traversed by the rocker cam to slow the switch, lock the rocker and provide other desirable effects. The rocker cam spring is housed in a spring chamber longer than itself, allowing the rocker cam spring to float.
