摘要: A high pressure discharge lamp comprises a light-transmissive ceramic discharge vessel having a swollen portion defining a discharge space and a pair of slender cylindrical portions formed in integral with the swollen portion and communicating with the swollen portion at opposite ends of the swollen portion, wherein the inner surface of the boundary portion between the swollen portion and the each slender cylindrical portion defines a discontinuous inflection, and a pair of the electrodes which penetrate the slender cylindrical portions of the light-transmissive ceramic discharge vessel and lie in the swollen portion of the light-transmissive ceramic discharge vessel at their distal ends, lead-conductors connected to the proximal ends of the electrodes, sealed in the light-transmissive ceramic discharge vessel at least at their mid-portions and exposing outside from the light-transmissive ceramic discharge vessel at their proximal ends, and a filling filled in the light-transmissive ceramic discharge vessel.

摘要: In a fluorescent lamp having a plurality of glass tubes that are connected with each other to form a discharge path, spacers that do not drop off even with insufficient accuracy of a gap between the glass tube are provided in a gap between the connected glass tubes, so as to improve the gap compression resistance and the torsion resistance. Each spacer is composed of a plurality of tonguelets and a bridge. The tonguelets are in contact with surfaces of the glass tubes and are connected by the bridge that is directed in an axial direction of the glass tubes.

摘要: An automotive lamp including a sealed envelope having a filament or other light emitting element contained therein, with the envelope being formed from a barium-silicate based glass that is essentially free of cadmium and that includes barium oxide in the range of 2.15%-2.25% by weight, strontium oxide in the range of 5.58%-5.82% by weight, potassium oxide in the range of 8.9%-9.3% by weight, and molybdenum oxide in the range of 0.068%-0.072% by weight. Specific amounts of other constituent components of the glass are also disclosed. The resulting lamp provides an amber color that meets applicable CIE chromaticity requirements for automotive lamps and the glass exhibits physical characteristics that are closely matched to that of lime glass, making it suitable for standard lamp manufacturing processes.

摘要: For insertion into a lamp housing, a radiator module (1) is provided inside of the module with at least one discharge lamp as radiation source, which puts out an ultraviolet radiation produced by plasma within a discharge chamber (2), the plasma being formed by coupling an electromagnetic field into the discharge chamber (2) and the radiation produced by the plasma exits along a given optical axis through at least one body (12) transparent to ultraviolet radiation as a window. In the range of the plasma at least one diaphragm opaque to radiation is provided with a through-bore along the axis (6), an additional thermal radiation source is fixedly arranged in a given position within the module along the optical axis (6); the additionally produced radiation penetrates through a second transparent body (13) as entry window into the discharge chamber, and then exits along the axis through the first transparent body (12) together with the ultraviolet radiation produced by the plasma. The module (1) can be inserted into a mounting of the lamp housing with a coupling lens (10), and is locked and held in a given position within the mounting by the mating fit of the module with respect to the coupling lens.

摘要: The present invention relates to a compact 3-way fluorescent lamp that is designed to serve as a replacement for a 3-way incandescent bulb. This novel compact 3-way fluorescent lamp uses only two fluorescent tubes, where one tube has twice the wattage rating of the smaller rated tube. The lower wattage unit is a single U-shaped tube and the higher wattage unit is comprised of a pair of U-shaped tubes, having a cross connection at the base of the tubes, giving a continuous gas discharge path through a first U-shaped tube, a cross connecting element, and a second U-shaped tube. Therefore, this lamp gives the appearance of a triple biaxial fluorescent lamp having three U-shaped units, spaced 120 degrees apart, and mounted to the top surface of a ballast housing cover. Two electronic ballasts ignite and operate the two lamp units—a low wattage ballast operates the low wattage unit, the medium wattage ballast operates the dual U-shaped medium wattage unit, and when both units are operational, the highest wattage level is attained. Each of the ballast circuits is optimized to give an enhanced high voltage ignition, thereby eliminating the need for an auxiliary ignition electrode. A pi-section EMI filter suppresses the electromagnetic interference that emanates from the MOSFETs as a result of their switching. Fire hazard protection is given by an internal fusible link.
