    摘要: A vibrator for a vibratory gyroscope including a base part and at least one bending-vibration piece extending from the base part in a direction crossing the longitudinal direction of the base part and a fixing part for fixing one end of the base part. The base part and bending-vibration piece are formed to extend substantially in a specified plane. At the opposite side to one end of the base part, a projection projecting from the bending-vibration piece is provided, or at least a pair of resonant arms resonating with vibration of the base part, wherein the resonant arms project from the fixing part. With this arrangement, it is possible to detect a turning angular rate with high accuracy.

When the polarity of the charge of the sensor element is inverted to the negative and an output of the signal converting circuit is decreased, the leaked charges are superimposed and become the negative. An automatic correction circuit detects the negative output and discharges the charges so as to set the input to null0null. Thus, the offset of the signal level due to the charge leakage is automatically corrected.

    摘要: The manufacture and use of piezoelectric materials as thin-film battery charging devices that may be operated incidentally to the normal use of another device are taught. For example, a user pressing a button to achieve a desired operation may incidentally charge the battery of the device in use. The present invention also relates to an electric device that may be self-charging under normal use. The present invention may also provide for a battery charging system and/or method for battery charging, including one that is completely self-contained. A piezoelectric element may be used to convert the mechanical energy obtained from the depression of a button or other actuator into the proper electrical form for storage in a thin-film battery. Circuitry may be included to regulate the electrical energy to proper charging levels, including circuitry used to protect a thin-film battery from overcharge, or to prevent other damage to a battery.

    摘要: A force activated electrical power generator is provided using piezoelectric elements of preferred lead-magnesium-niobate lead titanate (PMN-PT). The circuitry is in preferred versions completely passive generating all power needed. Some circuitry limits voltage across the elements and provides a return charge channel to prevent depolarization. Transformers can be used to increase the output voltage and efficiency. Rectifiers are shown to rectify the output to a single polarity. Filtering, regulation and other conditioning components are also shown. The output from the generator and circuitry can store the electrical charge, such as in a capacitor and/or battery.

The electro-active device (11) comprises an electro-active structure in the form of a continuous electro-active member (12) curving in a helix around a minor axis (13) which is in itself curved for example in a helix around a major axis (14). The continuous member (12) has a bender construction of a plurality of layers (21) and (22) including at least one layer of electro-active material so that concomitantly with the twisting the continuous member (12) bends generating an electrical signal detected by the detector circuit. The electro-active device (11) is advantageous as a sensing element in a sensor because it has a large displacement, high sensitivity and low compliance.

    摘要: Various piezoelectric transducers are provided. In one form, a polymer film or thin ceramic piezoelectric transducer is formed of various piezoelectric (active) and dielectric (inactive) layers in which the piezoelectric effect may be attenuated locally at any given point on the surface of the transducer, by use of printed circuit patterns, preferably made by photolithography. This provides a practical realization of a distributed piezoelectric transducer with a bi-dimensional polarization profile that varies smoothly over the surface of the piezoelectric structure. Flexibility of the fabrication procedure provides a way to optimize the design of a distributed piezoelectric transducer for applications such as active vibration control. In another form, a segmented piezoelectric transducer includes a set of active elements such as piezofilms, electronics and flexible printed circuits and connected with external electronic circuitry. The segmented piezoelectric transducer uses a modulation scheme to combine the individual sensor outputs. Modal coordinates may be extracted from a test structure on which the segmented piezoelectric transducer is attached. As well, it is possible to use a distributed piezoelectric transducer to actuate a structure by using a time-varying polarization profile.

    摘要: A position sensor for a pivoting platform which has a first portion that flexes when the platform pivots and a second portion of the platform that is rigid, utilizes a piezoresistive element on the first portion of the platform. A connecting terminal for the piezoresistive element is on the second portion and thus not subject to the flexing stresses. The platform can have two symmetrical arms as the flexing portion, and a pair of piezoresistive elements can be formed on each of the arms in order to double the output voltage changes with changes in these positions of the platform. A temperature compensating piezoresistive element can be formed on the rigid portion of the platform and connected to the piezoresistive element or elements. The piezoresistive elements can be formed directly on the portions of the platform.
