    摘要: Digital signal processing for mud pulse telemetry utilizes a variety of “On/Off” keying based modulation schemes, such as pulse width modulation (PWM) and pulse position modulation (PPM), to encode and/or decode information. A combination of PPM and PWM is disclosed that increases a bit rate while keeping a chip rate unchanged. The combination of PPM and PWM comprises determining a drilling condition and forming a message based on the drilling condition, forming a string of symbol values comprising the message, identifying a pulse width and a pulse start for the pulse based on a symbol value, providing a first pulse at a selected chip location, providing subsequent pulses to form the pulse width, and forming a quiet period at the end of the pulse width.

    摘要: An energy-efficient system for measurement of analog signals including one or more measuring units. Each measuring unit has a measuring probe which signal is processed by a modulator. All measuring units have identical modulators selected from the Time Encoding Machine family: Asynchronous Sigma Delta Modulator, Integrate And Fire Modulator and Integral Pulse Frequency Modulator. A signal from the modulator is processed by a delay circuit from which is optionally fed back to the modulator. Signals from the delay circuit and modulator are used to trigger a UWB pulse generator, which is optionally amplified and transmitted via transmission line or antenna. The delay circuit uniquely characterizes the measuring unit and enables the receiving unit to separate received signals from plurality of measuring units signals sent in an unsynchronized manner. The invention is useful for long term acquisition of analog signals, especially time varying signals such as biological signals.

    摘要: A signal processing method for enhancing the dynamic range of a signal is disclosed. The method comprises: a) forming an attenuated signal from an input signal; b) filtering each of the input and the attenuated signals such that the sum of their bandwidths is less than or equal to the bandwidth of a transmission channel; c) modulating a first one of the filtered input signal and the filtered attenuated signal, whereby the filtered input signal and the filtered attenuated signal occupy respective non-overlapping frequency ranges within the bandwidth of the transmission channel; and d) combining the modulated signal with the second one of the filtered input signal and the filtered attenuated signal to form a composite output signal.

    摘要: A received pulse signal based on an on-off keying modulation scheme is alternately sampled by AD conversion sections operated by a clock signal whose frequency is one-half of a transmission rate. In the synchronization, amounts of delay in sampling timing adjustment sections are made different from each other, whereby phases of two different points in a symbol pulse are sampled. An amount of delay in a variable delay section is adjusted in accordance with a result of comparison of the sampled values, thereby achieving synchronization. At the time of demodulation, the amount of delay in the variable delay section is held, and the amounts of delay in the sampling timing adjustment sections are switched to the same value, and the symbol pulse is alternately sampled. The sampled values are subjected to threshold value determination, and the determination result is subjected to parallel-to-serial conversion, whereby a demodulation output is acquired.

The device has a microcontroller (110), which is assigned at least one clock generator (120) and one memory unit (150), and which is connected at least to one data source (140), which is designed to output a data bit-stream to be transmitted. A sequential sequence of equidistant samples of a sinusoidal time profile is stored in the memory unit (150), such that it can be called up, in such a manner that the samples can be output using either the clock of the first clock generator or the clock of the second clock generator, depending on the data bit-stream.

    摘要: The present invention provides a novel technique for reducing the effect of CMI for PPM UWB signals. The system and method in accordance with the present invention greatly improves the performance of receivers and eliminates the possibility of catastrophic errors. The proposed technique introduces a variable modulation index instead of a fixed modulation index as was previously known in the art. The modulation index is changed over each frame within each symbol. In other words, a time hopping modulation index sequence is used over the frames of the UWB symbols in accordance with the present invention.
