摘要: A network is designed based on its topology and the expected flow patterns in the network. The use of the latter can lead to efficient use of network resources and can reduce or even minimize waste. Non-interference properties of the expected flows can yield an improved or even optimal design.

摘要: The predictive overlay network architecture of the present invention improves the performance of applications distributing digital content among nodes of an underlying network such as the Internet by establishing and reconfiguring overlay network topologies over which associated content items are distributed. The present invention addresses not only frequently changing network congestion, but also interdependencies among nodes and links of prospective overlay network topologies. The present invention provides a prediction engine that monitors metrics and predicts the relay capacity of individual nodes and links (as well as demand of destination nodes) over time to reflect the extent to which the relaying of content among the nodes of an overlay network will be impacted by (current or future) underlying network congestion. The present invention further provides a topology selector that addresses node and link interdependencies while redistributing excess capacity to determine an overlay network topology that satisfies application-specific performance criteria.

摘要: Most of the internet traffic today is carried out via the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). The main advantage of TCP is that it provides reliable data transfer to the application layer and simplifies programming. The protocol maximizes data throughput but may also lead to noticeable transmission delay in wide area networks (WAN). A client-server based medical image viewing system is disclosed that achieves high data throughput over TCP without impacting responsiveness. Special timestamp messages inserted into the data stream allow the system to detect situations where network latency increases noticeably and to obtain a reliable estimate of sustained transfer bandwidth. The system applies a feedback scheme that avoids network delays by limiting send bandwidth. In addition other parameters, in particular image compression settings, are dynamically adjusted depending on current network quality.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for analyzing traffic received at a network visibility node to determine traffic levels relative to capacity at tools communicatively coupled to the network visibility node and throttling traffic when the traffic levels exceed tool capacity. In an illustrative embodiment, streams received at a network visibility node are analyzed to predict a traffic level) for a given traffic flow. The predicted level of traffic for a given traffic flow is used to decide whether to forward traffic associated with the given traffic flow to a tool port of the network visibility node that is communicatively coupled to an external tool.

摘要: An overloaded period of a first service is forecast. A first transaction is predicted to arrive at the first service during the overloaded period. At a second service, a transaction sequence including the first transaction is delayed, the delaying resulting in a delayed transaction sequence, the delayed transaction sequence delaying arrival of the first transaction at the first service until after the overloaded period.

摘要: The present disclosure has been made in view of such a problem, and an object of the present disclosure is to make it possible to predict fluctuation of unsteady traffic with a small amount of calculation.
A traffic fluctuation prediction apparatus (91) according to the present disclosure includes: a data division unit (12) that divides time-series data XN(t) in a certain period of the traffic into estimation and prediction data sets; a learning unit (13) that learns a dictionary Dr(t) using one of the two divided data sets, and learns a dictionary Dp(t) using the other of the two divided data sets; a prediction unit (14) that obtains a sparse code YN(t) in representing the time-series data using the learned dictionary Dr(t) and obtains a predicted value XN{circumflex over ( )}(t) of future traffic using the obtained sparse code YN(t) and the dictionary Dp(t); and a prediction correction unit (15) that corrects a prediction error of the predicted value XN{circumflex over ( )}(t) obtained by the prediction unit (14) using search for a stable region of a double queue of overestimation and underestimation.-

摘要: Some embodiments of the invention provide novel methods for using probabilistic filters to keep track of data message flows that are processed at an element (e.g., forwarding element or middlebox service element) of a network. In some embodiments, the method iteratively switches between two probabilistic filters as the active and backup filters as a way of maintaining and refreshing its active probabilistic filter without the need for maintaining time values for removing outdated records from its active filter.

摘要: A network device includes first, second, and third processors. The first processor detects congestion in a packet flow. The packet flow is i) one packet flow among a plurality of packet flows and ii) is formed of a plurality of packets of a same type received from a first device in a network via a first network connection. The packets in the packet flow are destined for a second device in the network. When congestion notification packet generation is enabled for the packet flow, the second processor generates a congestion notification packet by replicating a packet from the packet flow and sends the congestion notification packet to the first device via the first network connection. The congestion notification packet identifies the packet flow for which congestion is detected. The third processor forwards the plurality of packets in the packet flow to the second device via a second network connection.
