摘要: A method and apparatus to provide three way conferencing which allows a third party caller to call into an existing telephone call at a single line of a called party's telephone. In one embodiment, the called party may accept the conferencing of the third party caller based on a review of received call related information, e.g., Caller ID information. The acceptance may be by flashes of the telephone line and/or by entry of a predetermined DTMF code. The telephone apparatus and/or the central office may maintain a directory of accepted third party callers which are allowed to automatically enter an existing telephone call at a called party, unless refused by the called party within a predetermined amount of time. Each entry in the directory of accepted third party callers contains a portion or all of call related information such as a telephone number and/or a household name.

摘要: A signal detector includes a transform unit and a cross-frame energy level unit. The transform unit is adapted to receive at least a first and a second frame of time domain input samples. The transform unit generates at least a first frequency energy value for the first frame and a second frequency energy value for the second frame based on the time domain input samples. The cross-frame energy level unit is adapted to compare the first frequency energy value to the second frequency energy value to determine the presence of a first tone in the time domain input samples. A method for detecting a signal includes receiving at least a first and a second frame of time domain input samples. At least a first frequency energy value for the first frame and a second frequency energy value for the second frame are generated based on the time domain input samples. The first frequency energy value is compared to the second frequency energy value to determine the presence of a first tone in the time domain input samples.

摘要: A telephone signal detecting circuit is provided, which can identify an input signal is a line reversal signal or a ring signal. Providing this telephone signal detecting circuit into a ring detector of a conventional telephone set can share the burden of the microprocessor of the telephone set and lessen the loading of power supply. In this invention, the Schmitt triggers of two different trigger levels are used to respectively detect the voltage change of the first discharge of the capacitor and the ripple signal produced due to the charge of the capacitor by the ring signal. The input signal can be easily identified to be a line reversal signal or a ring signal through a simple flip-flop circuit that can reduce the influence of the bouncing effect. The telephone signal detecting circuit is operated in a static mode and is almost free of power-consumption when it is not working.

摘要: An apparatus and method are disclosed for accessing originating central office equipment to control the disclosure of a calling party directory telephone number and/or name (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “DN” or “directory telephone number with a corresponding name”) to a called party who subscribes to Caller ID service or to any other Custom Local Area Switching System (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “CLASS”) service which discloses the calling party DN to the called party by performing a desired one of a plurality of automatic and/or manual calling operations. The apparatus and method are also for receiving, displaying and storing to memory a calling party DN sent from terminating central office equipment via a voice channel of a called party busy or idle telephone line in response to the receipt of the calling party flagged “public” DN sent from originating central office equipment to which the calling party telephone line is connected. In furtherance, the apparatus and method disclosed permit recalling a stored DN from memory to be displayed in an LED or LCD display counter, and permit automatically dialing a stored DN to return a missed call. A method is also disclosed for sending to an apparatus at a called station during a silent interval of a ringing signal cycle or a call-waiting tone signal cycle an incoming caller DN sent from terminating central office equipment responsively to the receipt of the DN sent from originating central office equipment indicating that the DN is to be disclosed at the called station.

摘要: Incoming calls from selected calling numbers are routed to call waiting for immediate response while calls from other calling numbers are handled in a different manner, e.g., they are routed to voice mail, to a forwarding number, or scheduled for call back. In order to route calls from selected calling numbers to call waiting, the subscriber enters the directory numbers of selected callers (or other caller identifying indicia) on the subscriber's telephone keypad together with an activation code for storing this information in a caller identification (ID) table, or data base. Each time an incoming call is received, the incoming call number (or other caller identifying indicia) is compared with the contents of the caller ID table and the call is routed to the call waiting function if the incoming call number is stored in the caller ID table.

摘要: A method and system to generate a communications identification announcement including an indication of an identity of an author of an incoming communication is disclosed. In an embodiment the method. Includes receiving a communication having a communication identifier and then searching a database to match the communication identifier to a data or audio file in the database that had been mapped to the communication identifier. If the communication identifier is located, then the data or audio file having the communications identification announcement including the identity of the author of the communication is announced to the contacted party. If the communication identifier is not located, then a previously stored announcement, generated in anticipation of failing to locate the communication identifier, may be broadcast. In an embodiment, the system to announce sounds indicative of an identity of a calling party may include a controller, a memory, a network interface unit, input and output devices, and database interface to access a subscriber database, the subscriber database containing one or more communication identifiers designated by the subscriber, each communication identifier corresponding to a particular contacting party.

摘要: The present invention is drawn to a call trace system and method that is simple to establish in a short amount of time. The call trace is implemented through a Web browser page which remotely programs central offices to trace calls to particular number. When a trace is established a message is sent back to the Web browser which displays the calling number, the called number and the central office detecting the call. Also, a page is sent to a pager which displays the traced information.
