摘要: Embodiments of a welding power supply include an engine adapted to drive a generator to produce a first power and a energy storage device adapted to discharge energy to produce a second power. The welding power supply also includes control circuitry adapted to detect a commanded output. The control circuitry is adapted to meet the commanded output by controlling access to power from the energy storage device to produce the second power when the commanded output is below a first predetermined load level. The control circuitry is further adapted to meet the commanded output by controlling access to power from the engine and the energy storage device to produce the first power and the second power when the commanded output is above a second predetermined load level.

摘要: A welding system and method provide for generating a controlled waveform for welding power output, the waveform comprising a plurality of successive peak phases followed by a short circuit between a welding wire electrode and an advancing weld puddle. Each then present peak phase is regulated based upon at least the immediately preceding short circuit to control the short circuit that will occur following the then present peak phase. Some embodiments permit regulating at least one waveform phase based upon at least the immediately preceding short circuit to control the next short circuit that will occur, and regulating at least one short response phase based upon at least the immediately preceding short circuit to control the next short circuit that will occur.

摘要: Embodiments of energy storage caddies adapted to couple to a welding power supply are provided. The energy storage caddies may include an energy storage device, a charger, control circuitry, and power conversion circuitry. Certain control circuitry may be adapted to control the energy storage device to discharge to provide a direct current (DC) voltage output to the welding power supply when a weld load demand is detected, to monitor a charge level of the energy storage device, and to alert a user to an error when the charge level of the energy storage device falls below a predetermined limit.

摘要: A method and apparatus for welding include initiating a pulse welding process includes initiating a welding arc by providing CC type welding power, maintaining the arc by providing CV type power. Then, pulse type welding power is provided. The method and system can be used to start short circuit, or other welding processes by providing short circuit power, or welding power of a given mode, instead of providing pulse power. Also, in one alternative, a method and system of initiating a pulse, short circuit, or given welding process includes initiating a welding arc by providing CC type welding power at least until a pseudo-equilibrium for the arc is established. Then, providing welding power in a pulse, short circuit, or the given mode.

摘要: A spark gap device is described such as for use in welding systems. The device receives a high voltage, low current input signal and produces high frequency waveform output. The device includes one or more toroidal members surrounding a rod-like member with an annular gap therebetween. When the input signal is applied to the device, arcs are established in the gap between the toroidal members and the rod-like member, producing the high frequency output. Erosion and loci of arcs between the toroidal members and the rod-like member are distributed, resulting in extended life of the assembly. The gaps are also shielded from contaminants and moisture by an insolative body that maintains the toroidal members and the rod-like member in place with respect to one another.

摘要: A welding current controlling method is provided for an arc welding process using a consumable electrode and including an alternate repetition of a short-circuiting state and an arc generating state occurring between the consumable electrode and a base material. In the method, a neck detection is performed for the molten electrode in the short-circuiting period of time to determine if a new arc is established between the consumable electrode and the base material. Upon detection of the neck, the welding current is sharply decreased. After the new arc is established, the welding current is increased from a low level to a high level with a predetermined inclination selected for reducing vibration to the molten pool.
