摘要: A method for drying printing ink containing an inactive active substance enclosed before drying in a reaction-inhibited form in a transport substance, for accelerating the drying of the printing ink on a print medium, includes applying the printing ink to a print medium being dried at a reaction site by supplying energy to the printing ink, and releasing the active substance by an energy supply from the transport substance at the reaction site for activation. A printing ink includes an active substance enclosed before drying in a reaction-inhibited form in a transport substance, for accelerating the drying of the printing ink on a print medium. The active substance is releasable during the drying by an energy supply from the transport substance at the reaction site.

摘要: A process for adhering a decorative pattern to a flat or multi-dimensional solid involves a heat transfer powder that is sprayed or brushed onto the surface to which the image is to be applied. A design in sublimate ink is placed on a transfer film. The ink particles convert directly to gas without passing through a liquid state. The gas converts directly to a solid upon cooling filling in the gaps or pores in the heat transfer polymer. A rigid fixture is provided which has a top, front and sides onto to which solid to be decorated are snugly fit by the fixture. A solid cap which may have a soft felt-type material on the inside, which is designed to push the film in tight and level contact with the solid surface to which the design is to be imprinted may be used.

摘要: A method for registering patterns on a web to provide independent scale control in both the lateral and longitudinal directions is provided. The method includes routing the web over a first roller; routing the web over a second roller and stabilizing the web; applying a pattern to the web using process hardware; measuring registration of the pattern and providing an error signal; controlling lateral position error using the error signal; controlling longitudinal position error using the error signal; controlling lateral scale error using the error signal; and controlling longitudinal scale error using the error signal. The method provides independent scale control in both the lateral and longitudinal directions. Independent scale control avoids non-linear distortions otherwise imposed by attempting to accomplish both corrections by stretching the web in both directions.

摘要: A method is disclosed of printing an area of a substrate in a plurality of passes using curable ink, the method comprising depositing a first pass of ink on the area, partially curing ink deposited in the first pass, depositing a second pass of ink on the area, and fully curing the ink on the area. The method finds particular application in the field of inkjet printing, and can afford the advantage of better wetting of ink on the substrate deposited by a previous pass and reducing the problem of ink spreading.

摘要: A printing apparatus (1) for printing an image onto a 3-dimensional surface of a plastics article such as a mobile telephone or computer mouse (not shown) has a housing (2) having a slot (3) for receiving a drawer (4) for receiving one of more of the articles to be printed. The drawer (4) is provided with clamp release buttons (5) on a front surface (6) thereof. The housing (2) contains a heater box (7), located above the slot (3), and having a fan (8) for directing hot air through a separator plate (9) onto a transfer element (not shown) mounted on the top of drawer (4) over the article on which an image is to be printed. The transfer element has a support layer of met, allised amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET) having an aqueous coating of polyvinyl polymers, which may also contain synthetic silica, surfactants and optical brightening agents. The metallisation is formed by applying one or more metallic coatings to one side of the APET film during manufacture. The heater box (7) is provided with a heater (not shown) which is controlled by means of an electrical enclosure (10) containing a programmable logic controller (PLC) and heating controller.

摘要: A low basis weight substrate is printed by a folded substrate, dual-sided printing process. The substrate is folded to present two printing surfaces. The folded substrate is then passed through a printing station to have an ink pattern printed on one surface, and then is reversed to have a second pattern printed on the second printing surface. Any ink striking through one of the surfaces is collected by the other surface of the printed substrate.
