    摘要: Disclosed are modular mechanical assemblies formed from durable, corrosion resistant components with sufficient strength to maintain efficient operation. The modular mechanical assemblies include a novel torsion axle assembly having a cartridge that houses a torsion bar with a splined tip. A load bearing, relatively incompressible bushing is optionally disposed about the torsion bar. The cartridge is inserted into an axle tube, and an end cap is placed over the cartridge and torsion bar. The end cap is affixed to the axle tube such that the bushing is secured within a bore in the end cap. The torsion bar tip extends through the bushing and end cap and is secured within a torsion arm. A spindle is also secured within the torsion arm. One or more components of the torsion axle assembly are made from a low alloy, medium carbon steel material that provides corrosion resistance and advantageous yield and ultimate strength properties. One or more components of the assembly can also be coated to improve corrosion resistance. Suitable coating techniques include, but are not limited to liquid ferritic nitrocarburizing, gas nitriding, electroless nickel plating, or a diamond like carbon coating process.

The first forward mounting portion axis (18) is oriented at an angle (56) from +0.75-+0.95 degrees to the lateral direction, and the second forward mounting portion axis (22) is oriented at an angle (58) from +0.08-+0.28 degrees to the lateral direction. The first rearward mounting portion axis (34) is oriented at an angle (60) from +0.65-+0.85 degrees to the lateral direction, and the second rearward mounting portion axis (38) is oriented at an angle (62) from −0.05-+0.15 degrees to the lateral direction.

The bending step is a step of pressing at least one specified rough flange part, which is at least one of the four rough flange parts, with a first die to form a bent portion in the specified rough flange part such that the bent portion is bent inward in an up-down direction of the forged product.

    摘要: An automotive component including a composite casting is provided. The composite casting includes a steel member and an end cap fastened to an end portion of the steel member. A cast coupling member is cast about the end portion of the steel member including the end cap, thereby positively and rigidly securing the cast coupling member to the steel member. The automotive component can comprise an engine cradle, a control arm, an instrument panel support structure, a bumper assembly, or a twist axle. The cast coupling member is typically formed by casting-in-place aluminum about the end cap and the end portion of the steel member. The steel member is typically a tubular member, and the end cap typically includes a flange designed to provide a mechanical interlock surface with the cast coupling member. For example, the flange can have a polygonal shape, an outwardly extending member, or notches.

To the ends of the cross member are fixed two tile-shaped reinforcing members which, together with the inclined end portions of the base wall of the cross member, form two box structures defining two bracket-shaped connecting parts in which the two trailing arms are engaged and welded. The tile-shaped reinforcing members are provided with supports for a pair of helical suspension springs of the axle.

    摘要: A rear axle assembly for motor vehicles with an axle being of rigid design, running at right angles to the lengthwise axis of the vehicle is pivotably mounted to the vehicle body by a support bearing located on the central lengthwise axis of the vehicle and by guide bearings via two trailing arms connected to the axle beam, the axle beam being held away from the vehicle body shock absorber struts. The trailing arms and axle beam are connected to form a one-piece wheel guiding element for the rear wheels of the vehicle which are carried by the axle beam in a manner achieving an instantaneous rotational pole that is located rearward of the rotational axis of the wheels carried by the axle beam, with respect to a forward direction of travel, and the guide bearings being transversely flexible, permitting a roll steering effect of the rear wheels and forming a horizontal pivot axis for the assembly which runs in front of the wheels' rotational axis relative to said forward direction of travel, during straight line travel of the vehicle, but extends approximately between the support bearing and one of the rear wheels of the vehicle as said vehicle travels through a curve. The support bearing is constructed so as to be flexible in horizontal load directions, but rigid in vertical load directions, while the guide bearings are axially elastic and radially rigid.
