摘要: Composite cement with improved reactivity and improved fresh properties comprising a hydraulic cement or a caustic activator, a hyaloclastite as pozzolan containing 45-62 wt.-% SiO2, 10-20 wt. % Al2O3, 6-15 wt.-% Fe2O3, 7-15 wt.-% CaO, 7-15 wt.-% MgO, 1.5-4 wt. % (K2O+Na2O), and having 0-5 wt.-% loss on ignition at 950° C. and ≥50 wt.-% X-ray amorphous phase, and a carbonate filler with an at least bimodal particle size distribution adapted to provide a slope n in a Rosin-Rammler-Sperling-Bennett distribution curve of ≤1.15 in a particle size distribution of the composite cement; a method for manufacturing it, as well as use of a composition comprising the hyaloclastite as pozzolan and the carbonate filler as mineral addition for composite cements comprising a hydraulic cement or a caustic activator.

摘要: A method of making a non-dispersible granular substrate includes forming a batch mixture comprised of one or more mineral-filler components, one or more pozzolan components, one or more hydrated lime components, and water, and co-pelletizing the batch mixture to form a plurality of granules. The resulting granules are non-dispersible in water, have a bulk density of 25 lb/ft3 or more and 75 lb/ft3 or less, and have a moisture content of from 0% to 16%.

摘要: It has been unexpectedly discovered that the addition of a natural or other pozzolan to non-spec coal ash significantly improves the properties of the non-spec coal ash to the extent it can be certified under ASTM C618 and AASHTO 295, as either a Class F or Class C coal ash. The natural pozzolan may be a volcanic ejecta, such as pumice or perlite. Other pozzolans may also be used for this beneficiation process. Many pozzolans are experimentally tested and may be used to beneficiate non-spec coal ash into certifiable Class F coal ash. Additionally, this disclosure provides a method of converting a Class C coal ash to a more valuable Class F coal ash. This discovery will extend diminishing Class F coal ash supplies and turn non-spec coal ash waste streams into valuable, certified coal ash pozzolan which will protect and enhance concrete, mortars and grouts.

摘要: A method for forming cement-based cementitious material includes: pouring a cement paste into a mold; applying an electrical current to the cement paste to perform an electro-osmotic reaction; and transferring the reacted cement paste into a water tank for curing, thereby obtaining a functionally graded cement-based cementitious material. A pair of electrodes is placed in the mold and connected to an external power source. The compressive strength of the functionally graded cement-based cementitious material in the middle is lower than that at either of both ends.

摘要: A non-conforming (or barely conforming) fly ash is converted into conforming (or better conforming) fly ash by: (1) obtaining an initial fly ash with at least one non-conforming (or barely conforming) characteristic selected from excess carbon content, low strength activity index, or low SAF as defined by ASTM C-618 and having a D10, D50 and D90; (2) classifying the initial fly ash using one or more air classifiers to produce at least two separate fly ash streams, including fine fly ash and coarse fly ash; (3) collecting the fine fly ash and the coarse fly ash, the fine fly ash having a D90 less than the D90 of the initial fly ash; (4) combining the fine fly ash with an aluminosilicate source to form a modified fly ash having a conforming carbon content, a conforming reactivity index, and a conforming SAF as defined by ASTM C-618.

摘要: The invention comprises a composition comprising hyaloclastite having a volume-based mean particle size of less than or equal to 40 μm. The invention also comprises a cementitious material comprising a hydraulic cement and hyaloclastite, wherein the hyaloclastite has a volume-based mean particle size of less than or equal to approximately 40 μm. The invention further comprises a cementitious-based material comprising aggregate, a cementitious material comprising a hydraulic cement and hyaloclastite, wherein the hyaloclastite has a volume-based mean particle size of less than or equal to approximately 40 μm and water sufficient to hydrate the cementitious material. A method of using the composition of the present invention is also disclosed.
