摘要: This disclosure concerns methods of fabricating porous ceramic supports and supported ceramic membranes, comprising mixing a ceramic powder, a clay powder and a binder to form a mixture, kneading the mixture in an aqueous or non-aqueous medium and a humectant to form a ceramic paste, and aging the ceramic paste for at least 24 h. The ceramic powder is about 70 wt % to about 80 wt % in the ceramic paste. The clay powder is about 5 wt % to about 15 wt % in the ceramic paste. The ceramic powder has an average particle size of about 5 μm to about 20 μm. This disclosure also concerns porous ceramic supports and supported ceramic membranes thereof.

摘要: In one example, a method for forming a coating system including an environmental barrier coating (EBC) and abradable coating on a substrate. The method may include depositing the EBC on a ceramic or ceramic matrix composite (CMC) substrate to form an as-deposited EBC; heat treating the as-deposited EBC following the deposition of the as-deposited EBC on the substrate to form a heat treated EBC; and subsequently depositing an abradable coating on the heat treated EBC to form an as-deposited abradable coating. The as-deposited abradable coating may be heat treated to form a heat treated abradable coating.

摘要: An article including carbon-carbon composite substrate may be treated with an antioxidant coating prior to use in an oxidizing environment. The antioxidant coating may be configured to reduce oxidation at an external surface of the C—C composition and reduce ingress of oxidants into pores or other open passages defined by the C—C composite substrate to avoid internal oxidation. An example article includes a C—C composite substrate, a bond coat, and an antioxidant coating. The C—C composite substrate defines a friction surface and a non-friction surface. The bond coat is disposed on the non-friction surface. The antioxidant coating may be disposed on at least a portion of the bond coat. The antioxidant coating may include ytterbium disilicate and a sintering aid.

摘要: Components and methods for producing such components are provided. The component comprises a substrate having a ceramic material, and a coating system on a surface of the substrate. The coating system includes one or more layers defining a composition gradient. A first portion of the coating system closest to the surface of the substrate has a composition comprising at least 95 wt. % of a rare earth disilicate, a second portion of the coating system furthest from the surface of the substrate has a composition comprising at least 50 wt. % of a rare earth monosilicate, and a third portion between the first portion and the second portion has a composition comprising both the rare earth disilicate and the rare earth monosilicate.
