摘要: A ceramic resin is provided, along with its methods of formation and use. The ceramic resin may include a crosslinkable precursor, a photoinitiator, ceramic particles, and pore forming particles. The ceramic resin may be utilized to form a ceramic casting element, such as via a method that includes forming a layer of the ceramic resin; applying light onto the ceramic resin such that the photoinitiator initiates polymerization of the crosslinkable precursor to form a crosslinked polymeric matrix setting the ceramic particles and the pore forming particles; and thereafter, heating the crosslinked polymeric matrix to a first temperature to burn out the pore forming particles.

摘要: A cubic boron nitride sintered material comprising cubic boron nitride grains and a binder, in which a content of the cubic boron nitride grains is no less than 30% by volume and no more than 80% by volume, the binder includes at least one selected from a second group consisting of a material made of a single element selected from a first group consisting of a group 4 element, a group 5 element and a group 6 element of the periodic table, aluminum, silicon, iron, cobalt and nickel, and an alloy and an intermetallic compound each composed of no less than two elements selected from the first group, and a content of a void in the cubic boron nitride sintered material is no less than 0.001% by volume and no more than 0.20% by volume.

摘要: Disclosed is a multilayer sintered ceramic body comprising at least one first layer comprising at least one crystalline phase of YAG, wherein the at least one first layer has at least one surface; and at least one second layer comprising alumina and at least one of stabilized zirconia and partially stabilized zirconia, wherein the at least one surface of the at least one first layer comprises pores wherein the pores have a maximum size of from 0.1 to 5 um as measured by SEM, and wherein each of the at least one first layer and the at least one second layer has a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), wherein the CTE of the at least one first layer and the CTE of the at least one second layer differ from 0 to 0.6×10−6/° C. as measured in accordance with ASTM E228-17. Methods of making are also disclosed.

摘要: Cementitious materials having high damage tolerance and self-sensing ability are described herein. These materials may replace conventional concrete to serve as a major material component for infrastructure systems with greatly improved resistance to cracking, reinforcement corrosion, and other common deterioration mechanisms under service conditions, and prevents fracture failure under extreme events. These materials can also be used for the repair, retrofitting or rehabilitation of existing concrete structures or infrastructure systems. Furthermore, these materials may offer capacity for distributed and direct sensing of cracking, straining and deterioration with spatially continuous resolution wherever the material is located, without relying on installation of sensors. The present invention relates to multifunctional cementitious structural or infrastructure materials that integrate self-sensing with damage tolerance for improving safety, extending service life, and health monitoring of structures, components, and infrastructure systems.

摘要: Provided herein are methods for making a freeze-cast material having a internal structure, the methods comprising steps of: determining the internal structure of the material, the internal structure having a plurality of pores, wherein: each of the plurality of pores has directionality; and the step of determining comprises: selecting a temperature gradient and a freezing front velocity to obtain the determined internal structure based on the selected temperature gradient and the selected freezing front velocity; directionally freezing a liquid formulation to form a frozen solid, the step of directionally freezing comprising: controlling the temperature gradient and the freezing front velocity to match the selected temperature gradient and the selected freezing front velocity during directionally freezing; wherein the liquid formulation comprises at least one solvent and at least one dispersed species; and subliming the at least one solvent out of the frozen solid to form the material.

摘要: A particulate filter and method of manufacture. The particulate filter comprises a ceramic honeycomb body comprising a plurality of intersecting walls that define a plurality of channels extending longitudinally though the ceramic honeycomb body. The intersecting walls comprise a porous ceramic material having a microstructure that comprises an interconnected network of porous spheroidal ceramic beads. The microstructure has a total porosity defined as the sum of an open intrabead porosity of the beads and an interbead porosity defined by interstices between the beads in the interconnected network. The microstructure has a bimodal pore size distribution in which an intrabead median pore size of the intrabead porosity is from 1.5 μm to 4 μm and an interbead median pore size of the interbead porosity is from 6 μm to 20 μm.

摘要: A porous refractory article including greater than 90 wt % coal combustion fly ash. The coal combustion fly ash is in the form of an interconnected particulate lattice structure, and wherein greater than 50% by volume of the coal combustion fly ash particles within the particulate lattice structure have a particle size of greater than 150 μm. The article has: (a) an apparent porosity of from 30% to 50%, (b) a porosity such that the maximum pore size is less than 500 μm; (c) a cold crushing strength of at least 4.0 MPa; and (d) a thermal conductivity of less than 1.5 W/(m·K).

Provided is a method for manufacturing a boron nitride sintered body, the method including: a raw material preparation step of firing a mixture containing boron carbonitride and a boron compound in a nitrogen atmosphere to obtain lump boron nitride having an average particle diameter of 10 to 200 μm; and a sintering step of molding and heating a blend containing the lump boron nitride and a sintering aid to obtain a boron nitride sintered body including coarse particles each having a length of 20 μm or more in a cross-section and fine particles smaller than the coarse particles.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a porous pre-densified CeO2-stabilized ZrO2 ceramic having a density of 50.0 to 95.0%, relative to the theoretical density of zirconia, and an open porosity of 5 to 50% as well as to a densified CeO2-stabilized ZrO2 ceramic having a density of 97.0 to 100.0%, relative to the theoretical density of zirconia, and wherein the grains of the ceramic have an average grain size of 50 to 1000 nm, methods for the preparation of the pre-densified and densified ceramics and their use for the manufacture of dental restorations.
