    摘要: An apparatus for treating a metal strip after it has exited from a coating container with a liquid coating material, for example zinc is provided. The apparatus includes a blow-off device arranged above the coating container having an air outlet gap for blowing off excess parts of the still liquid coating material from the surface of the metal strip after the passing of the metal strip through the coating container. An electromagnetic stabilizer is arranged above the blow-off device and has a plurality of individual magnets for stabilizing the metal strip after leaving the coating container and the blow-off device. In order to further increase the efficiency of the apparatus, at least some of the magnets of the stabilizer are formed as pot magnets with pot coils.

    摘要: Disclosed are methods and systems for processing a web. The web (402) has a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and includes a magnetic material. An example system includes a processing bed (202) configured to support the web while the first surface of the web undergoes one or more processing steps. The system also includes magnets (300) positioned relative to the processing bed so as to exert a magnetic force on the web that pulls the center of the web (403) toward the processing bed. The system further includes a conveyor belt (404) configured to move the web over the processing bed (202). The conveyor belt has a first contact surface and a second contact surface opposite the first contact surface. The first contact surface is configured to contact the second surface of the web, and the second contact surface is configured to contact the processing bed.

    摘要: The invention provides a method for removal of an excess of a liquid metal coating from a substrate, such as a hot dip coated metal substrate, and in preferred embodiments, for control of metal coating thickness.The method involves moving the substrate through a stationary pulsating or alternating magnetic flux. The flux is directed in a path which enters the coating at an entry zone and exits from the coating at an exit zone, those zones being on the external surface of the coating and spaced apart in the direction of advance of the substrate. The frequency and intensity of the flux are controlled so as to exert on the coating surface a force opposing the viscous drag forces exerted in the coating by the moving substrate. Apparatus for use in performing the method is described.

    摘要: A hot dip coating apparatus and method for coating a continuous steel strip, wire, or like continuous member with zinc, aluminum, tin, lead, or alloys of each. A molten coating bath is contained in a vessel having a bottom opening upwardly through which the steel member is directed. Magnetic containment devices located below the vessel's bottom opening prevent the escape of molten metal from the vessel through the opening. There are no guide rolls, or other rolls that act on the continuous steel member, in the bath.
