摘要: Apparatus and method for producing metal-coated optical fiber is provided. One step of such a method comprises providing a length of optical fiber having a glass fiber with or without a carbon layer surrounded by a polymeric, thermoplastic resin or wax coating. The optical fiber is passed through a series of solution baths such that the fiber will contact the solution in each bath for a predetermined dwell time, the series of solution baths or thermal tooling effecting removal of the polymer, thermoplastic resin or wax coating and subsequent electroless plating of metal on the glass fiber. The optical fiber is collected after metal plating so that a selected quantity of said metal-coated optical fiber is gathered. At least one of the solution baths comprises a coiled tube containing the process solution through which the glass fiber passes. Aspects of the present invention are also applicable to conventional metal wire where it is desirable to reduce physical length of the process line.

摘要: Coating liquids are supplied to a coating hopper, and are extruded onto a slide surface of the coating hopper through slits. A pair of guide members are provided at both sides of the slide surface. Side faces of the guide members are positioned at both ends of a desired width of the coating liquids flowing of the slide surface to be applied on a traveling web. Consequently, the coating liquids that flow over the whole width of the slits are divided into the inside and the outside of the desired width by the guide members, and the divided coating liquids are extruded onto the slide surface. The coating liquids within the desired width flow down between the guide members and coat the web, whereas the coating liquids outside the desired width are collected through channels, which are formed in the guide members.

摘要: A combined joint compound bucket and tape dispenser comprising a cylindrical container with a removable cover. A roll of dry-wall construction tape is suspended at the top of the container beneath the cover by a rod extending through the center of the tape and engaging slots in opposite sides of the container. The container includes two slotted apertures on one side of the container and a third slotted aperture on the other side of the container. The tape is reeled from the rod, out through a first aperture, guided down along the outside of the container, back into the container at the second aperture adjacent the bottom of the container. The tape passes through mud deposited in the container and exits the container on the opposite side through the third aperture. The tape is thus coated with the mud and may be torn from the container on a serrated edge at the desired lengths. A removable guide rail is also provided to guide the tape from the first to the second apertures.

摘要: The invention relates to apparatus for the wet treatment of a continuous length of textile material, containing a plurality of chambers through which the length of material flows in succession, in which a fluid connecting channel through which the length of material passes in counterflow to the treatment solution is provided in the region between adjacent chambers. This results in a significant improvement in the exchange of material between the solution and the length of material.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for fabricating an optical film, comprising a treatment step comprising: continuously feeding a film, while holding both transverse end portions of the film; and bringing a lower surface of the film into contact with a surface of a treatment liquid with which a treatment tank is filled, while continuously feeding the film. The method for fabricating a polarizing film in which bringing a liquid into contact with a film and transversely stretching the polymer film by a tenter method or the like can be performed at the same time using a small and simple fabricating apparatus.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for producing a resin-impregnated structure reinforced by continuous fibers in which a practically endless continuous fiber bundle is dipped in a bath of molten resin and simultaneously passes through a space between a pair of opening pins. The opening pins can be positioned on sides of the bundle so that the continuous fibers are sandwiched by the pins without coming in contact with them. By doing so, the fibers of the bundle can be opened and can be impregnated with the resin. In addition, the foregoing continuous fiber-reinforced resin structure may be cut into pieces having a desired length to provide columnar products.
