    摘要: Methods and systems for stabilizing spent fuel assemblies from sodium-cooled nuclear reactors using Zamak are described herein. It has been determined that there is a synergism between Zamak and sodium that allows Zamak to form thermally-conductive interface with the sodium-wetted surfaces of the fuel assemblies. In the method, one or more spent fuel assemblies are removed from the sodium coolant pool and placed in a protective sheath. The remaining volume of the sheath is then filled with liquid Zamak. To a certain extent Zamak will dissolve and alloy with sodium remaining on the fuel assemblies. Excess sodium that remains undissolved is displaced from the sheath by the Zamak fill. The Zamak is then cooled until solid and the sheath sealed. The resulting Zamak-stabilized spent fuel assembly is calculated to have sufficient internal thermal conductivity to allow it to be stored and transported without the need for liquid cooling.

    摘要: A process for improving the corrosion resistance of ferrous metal parts also subject to heat and chemical treatment following nitriding in association or not with carburizing and/or sulfurizing essentially comprises immersing the parts in a known bath of molten salts to which is added a sufficient quantity of a halogenophosphate having formula:M.sub.2 (PO.sub.3 X).sub.min which X and is fluorine and M is a metal of subgroup Ia, IIa or IIb of the periodic table of elements, having the valency m. The preferred halogenophosphate is sodium, potassium, calcium or zinc monofluorophosphate. The molten salt bath may be of the oxidizing type, comprising for example, 65% by weight KOH, 25% NaNO.sub.3, 10% Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3, or of the neutral type, for example a eutectic mixture of 50% BaCl.sub.2, 30% CaCl.sub.2, 20% NaCl. The halogenophosphate may be added in proportions of 0.1 to 20 g per kilogram of salt bath.

    摘要: A method for spreading noble metal on an iron particle surface includes: providing a plurality of iron particles, cleaning the iron particles up and separating the iron particles from cleaning water, drying the iron particles, placing the iron particles into a heater oven with a reaction gas, heating the iron particles for oxidation reduction, placing the iron articles into a noble-metal-ion solution for immersion plating, processing the iron particles with a solid-and-liquid separation, and then drying the iron particles. Wherein the heating temperature of the heating oven ranges from 300 to 500 degrees centigrade and the duration thereof ranges from 3 to 5 hours. Whereby, the iron particles are activated first in order to react with the noble metal so that the activity and the uniformity of the noble metal attached to the iron surface is improved.

    摘要: A method of blackening ferritic and/or martensitic stainless steels which comprises treating said steels by (a) immersing said steel in a fused alkali metal hydroxide-salt bath, which as conventionally produced may initially contain from 3 to 8% water of hydration, for a period of 1-30 minutes, at a temperature of 540*-720*F., and (b) continually adding water during the heat treatment in step (a); said water can be introduced in the form of steam to replenish the original water of hydration of the fused bath and the amount of water added ranges from an effective amount to about 15% by weight of the fused salt mixture. This addition of water in the ranges 1-15% and 3-8% replenishes and reinvigorates the molten salt bath so that the bath likewise has a satisfactory water content based on the molten salt mixture. A preferred fused salt mixture is the eutectic mixture of sodium and potassium hydroxide, and an additive agent such as an alkali metal molybdate may be added to the fused salt mix.
