摘要: A method of making a sized and resin-coated fiber tow for use in a fiber reinforced composite. the method comprising the steps of providing a fiber, contacting at least a portion of the fiber with a sizing slurry to form a sized and resin-coated fiber, the sizing slurry comprising 0.1-25% by weight of a sizing agent and 20-80% by weight of a matrix-resin powder in a solvent, based on the total weight of the sizing slurry. wherein the total solid content, including the sizing agent and the matrix-resin powder, of the sizing slurry is greater than 30 wt. %. The method further comprising drying the sized and resin-coated fiber at a temperature below the melting point of the matrix-resin powder, thereby forming a dried sized and resin-coated fiber and winding the dried sized and resin-coated fiber onto a spool.

Methods can further include depositing a composition of the present disclosure onto a metal substrate.

摘要: The present invention relates to a continuous carbon fiber bundle that is easily divided by cutting to a length of 25.4 mm, a sheet molding compound (SMC), and a fiber-reinforced composite material to be molded using the same. The SMC includes carbon fiber bundles including carbon fibers with a single fiber fineness of 1.0 dtex or more and 2.4 dtex or less and a matrix resin composition. In the SMC, a mode value in a mass distribution of carbon fiber bundles with respect to a mass of individual carbon fibers bundle is 50% or less of the mass of the carbon fiber bundle with the largest mass, and additionally, a fiber-reinforced composite material molded using the same is used to address problems.

摘要: A composite carbon fiber having a carbon fiber to which an amine-functionalized polymer is electro-grafted onto a surface thereof is provided. Electro-grafting the amine-functionalized polymer onto the surface of the carbon fiber results in a composite carbon fiber in which the polymer is covalently bonded to the fiber, and in which a significant number of reactive amine groups are available for subsequent reactions, such as for reacting with a resin matrix in the production of a fiber reinforced composite. As a result, the composite carbon fibers may be particularly useful in producing fibers reinforced composites that exhibit improved interlaminar strength. Fiber reinforced composites are also provided.

摘要: A sizing composition for reinforcing fibres is provided which makes it possible to improve the adhesion of these fibres with respect to an organic matrix that forms, with them, a part made of a composite material and that results from the chain transfer polymerization of a curable resin. The sizing composition includes a polybutadiene prepolymer comprising at least two epoxide functions, a cross-linking agent comprising at least two reactive functions, at least one of which is a thiol function; and a catalyst comprising at least one tertiary amine function. The sizing composition may be used in the following fields of use: aeronautical, aerospace, railway, naval and motor vehicle industries, for example, for the production of structural, engine, passenger compartment or body work parts; arms industry, for example, for the production of parts incorporated into the composition of missiles or missile launch tubes; sports and leisure goods industry, for example, for the production of goods intended for water sports and board sports.
