摘要: An optical detection system uses high-resolution holographic filters for target detection within a very-large field of view image acquired with a reflector. The holographic filter acts as an optical computer, mixing phase and amplitude information of known targets with light from the scene, automatically enhancing portions of the image that match threat objects or other object of interest. A lens forming a Fourier transform of the entire scene is used, and within that transform, the holographic information of a target or multiple targets is added. By acting as an inverse optical transfer function, the hologram gathers the target information to single point, and removes non-target background. Amplification is done by using a laser-illuminated hologram to create a phase-amplitude filter in a photorefractive material at the transform plane. By mixing the hologram and the scene at the transform plane, the matching is enhanced regardless of target location in the scene.

摘要: There is provided a driver for a spatial light modulator comprising a plurality of pixels. The driver is configured to receive a hologram of a picture and drive the spatial light modulator to display the hologram on a group of pixels of the plurality of pixels. The driver is further configured to apply a series of phase offsets to the spatial light modulator displaying the hologram, wherein each phase offset of the series of phase offsets is applied to each pixel of the group of pixels for a respective predetermined period of time.

摘要: Virtual reality (VR) displays are computer displays that present images or video in a manner that simulates a real experience for the viewer. In many cases, VR displays are implemented as head-mounted displays (HMDs) which provide a display in the line of sight of the user. Because current HMDs are composed of a display panel and magnifying lens with a gap therebetween, proper functioning of the HMDs limits their design to a box-like form factor, thereby negatively impacting both comfort and aesthetics. The present disclosure provides a different configuration for a virtual reality display which allows for improved comfort and aesthetics, including specifically at least one coherent light source, at least one holographic waveguide coupled to the at least one coherent light source to receive light therefrom, and at least one spatial light modulator coupled to the at least one holographic waveguide to modulate the light.

摘要: There is provided an optical system having a viewing window. The optical system comprises a display device arranged to spatially modulated light in accordance with a hologram displayed thereon to form a holographic wavefront. The holographic wavefront forms a holographic reconstruction of an image downstream of the display device. The optical system further comprises a waveguide arranged to receive the holographic wavefront and waveguide the holographic wavefront between a pair of reflective surfaces thereof. One surface of the pair of reflective surfaces is partially transmissive such that a plurality of replicas of the holographic wavefront are emitted therefrom. The optical system further comprises an optical component between the holographic reconstruction and the waveguide, wherein the optical component is arranged to (a) form a virtual image of the holographic reconstruction upstream of the display device and (b) form an image of the displayed hologram at infinity or downstream of the waveguide.

摘要: A holographic projector includes a display device arranged to form a holographic wavefront by spatially modulating light in accordance with a hologram of a picture. The holographic projector includes a magnification system including a first and second lens. The first lens is arranged form a holographic reconstruction of the picture by focusing the holographic wavefront towards a front focal plane of the first lens. The holographic reconstruction of the picture includes a plurality of pixels. The holographic projector includes a kinoform disposed between the first and second lens and arranged to apply a phase-delay to each pixel of the holographic reconstruction. The holographic projector includes a movement assembly arranged to move the kinoform such that a plurality of different phase-delays are applied to each pixel. The kinoform includes an array of zones and is arranged such that the width of each zone is substantially equal to the distance between adjacent pixels.

摘要: A logic circuit comprises a logic sub-circuit arranged to output a stream, S1, of Fresnel lens values, F(x), of a Fresnel lens for display on [m×n] pixels of a pixelated display device, and an iterative method outputs a stream, S1, of Fresnel lens values, F(x), of a Fresnel lens for display on [m×n] pixels of a pixelated display device. The circuit and method can reduce the number of multiplications used to provide each value of a stream of display values for the display device, wherein the display values include values of a Fresnel lens function. Accordingly, they can be implemented in an advanced integrated circuit, such as a field-programmable gate array.

The array of LF modules displays the holographic content to viewers in viewing volumes. The LF display system can be included in a LF film network. The LF film network allows holographic content to be created at one location and presented at another location. The LF film network includes a network system to manage the digital rights of the holographic performance content.
