Abstract:
A method of coating a plurality of sheets. A fluid is forced through gaps in the plurality of sheets. The fluid has a substantially plug flow profile and the fluid deposits a coating on at least one surface of the plurality of sheets in a self-limiting deposition process.
Abstract:
A method of applying a two-part dental sealant is described comprising providing a syringe device (1) comprising a cartridge (10) including first and second chamber. The first chamber contains a first part of a dental sealant comprising a (meth)acrylate resin and an oxidizing curing agent. The second chamber contains a second part of a dental sealant comprising a (meth)acrylate resin and a reducing curing agent that reacts with the oxidizing curing agent of the first chamber. The first and/or second part of the dental sealant further comprise a single component or multiple components that neutralize acid and promote remineralization. The syringe device comprises a dispensing nozzle (17) comprising a static mixer and an outlet at one end of the cartridge and a plunger (20) at the opposing end of the cartridge. Also described is a kit for storing and applying the dental sealant is described.
Abstract:
Dental materials are provided in which a conformal coating is disposed on the inner surfaces of a dental composite. The conformal coating can be subsequently surface modified to provide a chemical bond between the compressible component and a hardenable resin, resulting in increased bond strength and reduced bond strength variability. Use of a thin conformal layer can provide a surprising enhancement in bond reliability while minimizing the collateral effect on the handling properties of the unhardened composite. The conformal coating can also improve the compressibility and decrease rebound in the overall dental composite during a bonding procedure and reduce the amount of extractable components.
Abstract:
A particle having a first portion and a second portion surrounding the first portion is described. A volume of the second portion is at least 50 percent of a volume of the particle. The second portion includes a material having a local composition or an effective refractive index that varies substantially continuously across the thickness of the second portion. The material includes a plurality of inorganic regions and may further include organic regions. The particle can be made via atomic or molecular layer deposition.
Abstract:
Particles comprising a composite core and a continuous inorganic coating covering the composite core, wherein the composite core comprises a continuous non-metallic inorganic matrix, ligands, and quantum dots, wherein the matrix comprise up to 40 volume percent, and wherein the coating has an average thickness up to 5 micrometers; and method of making the particles. Particles described here are useful, for example, to make articles (e.g., film).
Abstract:
A method of depositing a conformal coating on a porous non-ceramic substrate requires reactive gases to flow through the substrate so as to leave a conformal coating behind. The process can be used to leave a hydrophilic surface on the interior pores of the substrate, even when the substrate is of a naturally hydrophobic, e.g., olefinic material. The method can be used in a roll-to-roll process, or in a batch process. In some convenient embodiments of the latter case, the batch reactor and the conformally coated substrate or substrates can together go on to be come part of the end product, e.g., a filter body and the filter elements respectively.
Abstract:
A film including a resin layer comprising a structured major surface opposite a second major surface, the structured major surface including a plurality of features; a barrier layer on the structured major surface; and a first adhesive layer on the barrier layer.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a configuration and technique of fabricating remote phosphor optics (such as lenses) for downconverting LEDs, replacing the prior art solid hemispherical lenses with a novel thin-shell hemispherical lens that can be used with a wide range of encapsulating materials, including low index materials such as air and methyl silicones. The present disclosure further provides a configuration and technique whereby the remote phosphor lenses can be used with an LED array.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method of coating uniformly shaped and sized articles. The method includes providing a reactor having an arrayed inner surface, positioning the articles within the reactor, and coating the articles.
