摘要: Described is a medical assembly and delivery devices for performing minimally invasive medical procedures. In particular, described is a controllable articulating directional tip assembly consisting of interlocking segments creating an articulating directional tip and various components utilized with the directional tip for various tissue alterations and/or viewing within a tissue cavity such as, for example, non-soft tissue alterations such as bone within a non-soft tissue cavity. In particular, the disclosed device could be utilized as an osteotome device for altering, such as cutting, bone.

摘要: Method of determination of access areas from 3D patient images The invention relates to amethod for automatically determining at least one pre-operative portal for arthroscopy from acquired pre-operative medical images of a bone of a patient, the method comprising the following steps: i)constructing a 3Dsurface(S) of the bone from the 3D image of the bone; ii)determining anatomical landmarks of the bone from the 3D surface; iii)determining a bone reference coordinate system (Rbone); iv)selecting at least one predetermined portal in a database of positions of predetermined portals; v)determining a transform between the bone reference coordinate system (Rbone) and the model coordinate system (Ratlas) so that the bone of the patient and the bone of the reference person are matched in size, in position and/or shape; vi)inferring from the transform and the at least one predetermined portal the pre-operative portal.

摘要: The illumination system described below comprises an arthroscope, endoscope or other suitable surgical tool and an attachable cannula comprising a transparent or semi-transparent material capable of carrying light from the proximal end of the cannula to the distal end of the cannula, thereby illuminating the surgical field. The surgical field is thus illuminated through components that do not occupy space that may otherwise by used for the optics of the arthroscope. The arthroscopic illumination system further comprises one or more illumination sources disposed at the proximal end of the cannula. The illumination source may be optically coupled with the cannula at the hub or other appropriate location. The cannula comprises a sterilizable polymer which functions as a waveguide. A waveguide is a material medium that confines and guides light.
