A vehicle seat comprising a seat back having a foot massage system (4) is provided. The seat back includes a front side (2) and a rear side (3), and the rear side (3) receives the foot massage system (4). Said foot massage system(4) is configured to pivot around an axis (Β-Β') that is fixed relative to the seat back between a first in -use position, wherein the massage system (4) pivots down to receive a passenger's feet, and a second folded-away position, wherein the massage system (4) is retracted along the rear side (3) of the backrest. The foot massage system (4) includes a registration area (10) for guiding the passenger's feet to a proper massage position and a pressure detection system having pressure sensors (8). Only when all of the pressure sensors (8) are pressed, the foot massage system (4) can start to work.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for initiating stroke treatment in the field and/or during the transport of the patient to a care facility. The capability is provided to adjust automatically to the individual therapeutic window for each single patient, which is crucial because of the significant differences in skull morphology between humans of different age, gender and race. Further, the methods and apparatuses are based on the use of non-invasive application of ultrasound, as well as the non-invasive application of ultrasound in combination with an acoustically active agent, such as microbubbles, where stable cavitation of the microbubbles caused by the ultrasound may be relied upon as an underlying mechanism for both the therapeutic application as well as its control.

Described are improved apparatus and devices for intermittently and sequentially compressing a body site and methods for using said apparatus and devices, especially for site specific treatment to achieve a desired temperature of the underlying tissue. The apparatus includes a first segment cooperative with a fluid chamber, the fluid chamber adapted for inflation by fluid; and a second segment cooperative with the first segment, the second segment housing a temperature sensitive material, wherein the temperature sensitive material is uniquely compartmentalized in the second segment.
Abstract:
A modular stimulus applicator system and method are disclosed. The system includes a plurality of wirelessly controlled stimulus pods, anchored to a patient's body, and configured to deliver stimulus to the patient's body. The stimulus can be heat, vibration, or electrical stimulus, or any combination thereof. The stimulus pods are controlled by a control station that can include a user-interface through which the patient can control application of the stimulus.
Abstract:
A faucet mounted eyewash unit for installation onto the discharge end of a standard faucet spout. The eyewash unit in a normal faucet mode position permits uninterrupted water flow through the faucet spout. In an eyewash mode, a portion of the eyewash unit is rotated quickly and easily to orient a pair of eyewash discharge ports in upwardly open positions, and to couple these eyewash discharge ports to the water flow for upward trajection of a pair of eyewash flushing streams. The eyewash unit further includes a thermostat for preventing hot water flow above a selected temperature level to the eyewash discharge ports.

A physiotherapy apparatus (10) comprising a robotic arm (11), wherein the robotic arm (11) is attachable to a base (12) for fixing the robotic arm (11) at a first end ( 13) and at the second end (14) the robotic arm (11) is provided with one or more removeable and interchangeable patient interaction means (30) which are designed to be attached to, held by, or interact with, a user (1) of the physiotherapy apparatus (10). The robotic arm (11) is capable of moving, or is adapted to move, the patient interaction means (30) in a known orientation and manner in a full three dimensional range of motion with respect to its first end (13), and is further capable of rotating and tilting the patient interaction means (30) around the second end (14). The robotic arm (11) is programmable and/or adapted to be able to move a limb (2) or other body part of the user (1) via the patient interaction means (30), in a user definable manner.

A handpiece (10) suited to carry out ultrasound treatments of human tissue to remove localised adiposity, cellulite, etc. The handpiece (10) comprises: a box- shaped body (11) presenting a basin- like concave element (13) the contour of which (CNT), in use, is rested on the skin to be treated; and two ultrasound transducers (15, 16) located on the walls of the concave element (13), the ultrasound transducers (15, 16) being inclined with respect to each other at an angle (alpha) which can be adjusted by electromechanical means. Moreover, between the two ultrasound transducers (15, 16) there is a suction mouth (14) connected to a vacuum pump. The suction mouth (14) is suited to lift a portion of skin, in such a way that two adjoining portions of skin, covered with massage oil or gel, are brought into contact with the ultrasound transducers (15, 16). Only then, the ultrasound transducers can be activated.

The apparatus is arranged to supply a flow of substantially pure oxygen to a person, and comprises a source of substantially pure oxygen gas, means for release of the substantially pure oxygen gas from the source into an ambient atmosphere; and means for cooling the substantially pure oxygen gas released from the source to a temperature below that of the ambient atmosphere. The substantially pure oxygen gas when cooled by the cooling means can be allowed to sink under ambient pressure by convection into a zone including the ambient atmosphere, the zone being beneath, and in convective communication with, the cooled substantially pure oxygen gas, whereby the cooled and sunken substantially pure oxygen gas can come into contact with the skin of a person in that zone. At least one parameter (such as temperature, oxygen concentration, sound or vibration) is monitored in the zone and operation of the release means is only permitted when the parameter is in a predetermined range.
