A method and apparatus for continuously casting a gradient or non-gradient electrophoretic gel slab includes reservoir cylinder blocks (1 and 2) which empty into nozzles (3) which deliver a gel solution onto a backing (4) riding between two belts (5 and 6), the belts sealed by platens (7) having UV transparent windows (8). As the gel solution is carried by the belts (5 and 6), it passes by a UV light source (9) which initiates polymerization of the gel. After polymerization, the gel slab is cut to a desired size.

Methods and apparatuses for making multiple three-dimensional objects from multiple solidifiable materials are shown and described. In accordance with the method, the objects are designed with variable removable support heights along the build axis so that each object has an interface between first and second materials that is the same height from the build platform. The technique simplifies the process of producing multiple three-dimensional objects from multiple solidifiable materials which may have different build axis heights of first and second finished object sections so that the sources of solidifiable materials need only be switched once during the building of multiple objects.

A method of forming a substrate in a thermal compression bonding process that permit substantially greater amounts of fillers than previously accomplished. The method employs a dispersion of a thermoplastic binder and a filler. The dispersion is then thermally compression bonded to form a substrate. Lightweight fillers are one example of fillers that are ideally suited for the thermal compression bonding through the use of a dispersion. Such lightweight fillers enable the formation of a substrate with a very low and desirable specific gravity.

Die vorliegende Erfindung schlägt ein Trägermaterial zur Herstellung eines Trägers (36) für ein dekoriertes Wand- oder Bodenpaneel vor, wobei das Trägermaterial (20) ein einen Kunststoff aufweisendes Matrixmaterial und ein Feststoffmaterial aufweist, wobei das Feststoffmaterial zu wenigstens 50 Gew.-%, insbesondere zu wenigstens 80 Gew.-%, insbesondere zu wenigstens 95 Gew.-%, bezogen auf das Feststoffmaterial, durch Talkum gebildet ist, wobei das Matrixmaterial in einer Menge, bezogen auf das Trägermaterial, von > 30 Gew.-% bis 40 Gew.-% bis 30 Gew.-% bis 40 Gew.-% bis 95 Gew.-%, insbesondere ≥ 99 Gew.-%, vorliegen. Zusammenfassend bietet das vorbeschriebene Trägermaterial (20) den Vorteil einer guten Herstellbarkeit bei gleichzeitig hoher Dimensionsstabilität insbesondere bezüglich Feuchte- und Temperatureinfluss und guten mechanischen Eigenschaften. Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auch auf ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines dekorierten Wand- oder Bodenpaneels mit dem erfindungsgemässen Träger.

Described is a method of forming and curing high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) into shaped three dimensional foam implements. In general the method uses the steps of: providing a HIPE, depositing the HIPE into a mold cavity having a predetermined three dimensional shape, curing the HIPE in the mold cavity to form a HIPE foam, and stripping the HIPE foam from the mold cavity to form the three dimensional foam implement. The molded implements are widely useful as components in absorbent articles, toys, insulation, and other uses where a combination of low density and tridimensional shape are desired.

A method and an apparatus for continuously producing plastic board. To produce a board which is clear and smooth having excellent mechanical strength and heat resistance through simple operation, a polymerizable mixture is poured into a gap defined by two endless belts and gaskets that seal between both sides of the belts. The polymerizable mixture is passed through a plurality of vessels containing polymerization liquids that are maintained at ordinary temperature to 120 C and that are arranged juxtaposed to one another. The polymerizable mixture is pressed by hydraulic pressure. After the polymerization is finished, the polymer is cooled through a cooling vessel thereby to continuously produce a plastic board. The method and apparatus of the invention are suited for obtaining a plastic board by polymerizing a polymerizable mixture which consists of a polymerizable compound having high heat of polymerization, particularly a polymerizable compound having two or more alpha - beta unsaturated double bonds, an untraviolet ray absorbing agent such as benzophenone of an amount necessary to shield ultraviolet rays, and a radical polymerization initiator.
