Abstract:
The invention is directed to a construction material and to the use of modified layered inorganic material. The construction material of the invention comprises a layered inorganic material, which layered inorganic material comprises an ionic organic modifier compound and a biocide. The construction material of the invention has increased resistance against microbial fouling.
Abstract:
In a method of making a gypsum slurry, a polycarboxylate dispersant, a modifier and a hydraulic material comprising stucco are selected for use in the slurry. These components are then combined with water to form a slurry, where the modifier is added to the slurry prior to formation of a slurry phase by the water, the stucco and the dispersant. The modifier has been shown to be less effective when added after the dispersant and stucco have been contacted in an aqueous slurry. In a preferred embodiment, an amount of stucco is obtained and the modifier and dispersant are selected. A predissolved solution of a dispersant and modifier is prepared in water to form a solution prior to the addition of the stucco. After mixing the solution, the stucco is added to form the slurry. Optionally, the slurry is then shaped into a product and allowed to set.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of producing slabs of artificial stone with polymerisable resin having a veined effect, by means of vibro-compression under vacuum. The inventive method comprises the following phases consisting in: grinding the different materials that form the filler; storing the resin with the catalyst and, optionally, a colouring agent; mixing the aforementioned constituents until the materials have been homogenised with the resin; moulding and compacting the paste obtained by means of vibro-compression under vacuum; heating the resin in order to harden same by means of polymerisation; and cooling, cutting and polishing same.
Abstract:
Abstract:
(1) A composition for building materials which comprises 100 parts by weight of a base selected from the group consisting of calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, and an emulsion of an organic synthetic resin and 50-3,000 parts by weight of an inorganic filler having a true specific gravity of 3.5-6.0 selected from the group consisting of barium chloride, zinc oxide, aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, barium oxide, strontium carbonate, barium carbonate, and barium sulfate. Also provided is (2) a plasterboard having a plaster core produced from a slurry obtained by mixing 100 parts by weight of calcium sulfate, 50-200 parts by weight of the inorganic filler, and water.
Abstract:
This invention is related to a sheet and specifically it is related to a sheet used for instance in furniture, floor covering or counter tops. The sheet comprises one or more of thermic power plant slag, fly ash, binder, water absorbency retardants and pigments.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the addition of ammonia to cement, thereby increasing the cement's tensile strength and flexibility. More flexible cement, whether used by itself or in conjunction with other materials in cementitious compositions, is useful in a wide range of applications.
Abstract:
The invention relates to grout compositions that are suitable for packaging in pressurized containers. The compositions comprise a mineral filler that has average particle size greater than about 160 micrometers in which the mineral particles exhibit a Mohs hardness less than about 6.5. The composition also comprises microspheres. The composition exhibits improved properties relative to prior grouts, such as improved clean-up properties.
Abstract:
The invention relates to lightweight concrete comprising granular glass foam having at least one grain size fraction with a binder, preferably cement, asphalt, or synthetic resin. The granular glass foam is provided with a grain size fraction of at least 2, preferably at least 4. A filler material having a grain size fraction of up to 4, preferably up to 2, and a concentration of 0.1 to 50 percent, preferably 0.1 to 25 percent by volume relative to the lightweight concrete is provided as a moiety of fine material. Blown glass balls, preferably with a sintered surface, can be used as a filler material, for example.
