Abstract:
The present invention relates to anionic exchange polymers including a poly(phenylene) structure. The structure can include any useful cationic moiety. Methods and uses of such structures and polymers are also described herein. In one instance, such polymers are employed to form a solid membrane.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a composite material that includes a thermoplastic poly(phenylene) polymer and a reinforcement component. The poly(phenylene) polymer includes para-phenylene units. At least a portion of the para-phenylene units may be substituted with a polar non-acid functional group. The thermoplastic poly(phenylene) polymer may also include meta-phenylene units. The disclosure also describes a method of making a composite material using a solvent-dissolved poly(phenylene) polymer and a reinforcing fiber.
Abstract:
Thermally conductive resin compositions comprising polymer, calcium fluoride, fibrous filler and optionally, polymeric toughening agent are particularly useful for metal/polymer hybrid parts and as encapsulants.
Abstract:
Fasteners, such as bolts, nuts and screws, rivets, pins, and retaining rings, made of a highly kinked rigid-rod polyarylene exhibiting outstanding characteristics, notably a high torque and a high tensile elongation, a measure of practical toughness.
Abstract:
Polyarylene compositions including one or more organic substances. The organic substances can be selected from the group consisting of a paraffin, an olefin, an olefin oligomer, an alkoxylated acyclic carboxylic acid, an alkoxylated acyclic carboxylic acid amide, an acyclic carboxylic acid, an acyclic carboxylic acid ester, an acyclic carboxylic acid alkali metal salt, an acyclic carboxylic acid amide, an alkoxylated acyclic alcohol, an acyclic alcohol, an alkoxylated alkyl phenol and an alkyl phenol. The organic substances provide improved processability. Further inclusion of a sterically hindered phenol provides tougher polyarylene compositions.
Abstract:
A coated or jacketed wire or cable, and components thereof are disclosed. The coating, jacket, and components, which comprise a polyolefin and a phenolic polymeric antioxidant, exhibit outstanding oxidative thermal stability (as indicated by the increase in the oxidative inductive time (OIT)), when compared to polyolefins containing traditional non-polymeric antioxidants. A greater improvement in the thermal oxidative stability is observed after the polyolefin mixtures have been aged in water-blocking filler(s).
