Abstract:
In a method of determining a flow rate in an intravenous fluid delivery system according to one embodiment of the present invention, the fluid delivery channel forms a segment of the intravenous infusion system. An input thermal signal is emitted into a source location of a fluid delivery channel at an emitting instant. A first output thermal signal is received from a first sensor location of the fluid delivery channel at a first receiving instant. The first sensor location is positioned with a first interval downstream from the source location. The input thermal signal, the first output thermal signal, the emitting instant, the first receiving instant and the first interval define a first measured thermal profile. The first measured thermal profile is matched with a reference thermal profile which corresponds to a reference value, and the flow rate can be determined.
Abstract:
A micro-fluidic device includes at least one inlet and a curvilinear microchannel having a trapezoidal cross section defined by a radially inner side, a radially outer side, a bottom side, and a top side, the cross section having a) the radially inner side and the radially outer side unequal in height, or b) the radially inner side equal in height to the radially outer side, and wherein the top side has at least two continuous straight sections, each unequal in width to the bottom side.
Abstract:
An electrical connector for connecting to a flexible/flat circuit board includes a housing having a cavity, contacts disposed in the cavity of the housing, and a metal shield mounted to the housing. Locking members are attached to the housing and having resilient locking projections disposed in the cavity. When a flexible/flat circuit is inserted into the cavity, openings/notches formed on the flexible/flat circuit are engaged with the locking projections such that the flexible/flat circuit is secured to the housing. The shield is rotatable relative to the housing and engaging to the locking members. When at an open position, the shield presses against the locking members to deflect and push the locking projections away from the cavity such that the flexible/flat circuit is disengaged from the locking projections and can be detached from the connector.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for installation of an energy chain system onto equipments at an operation site. A base fixture is provided at a preparation site which is independently operable from the operation site. A drag chain assembly and an auxiliary fixture are attached to the base fixture. Cables / hoses required to be installed onto equipments at the operation site are arranged and attached to the auxiliary fixture. The base fixture carrying the drag chain assembly, the auxiliary fixture and the cables/hoses pre-arranged on the auxiliary fixture are then transported to the operation site to enable cable/hose installation and connection to the equipments. The auxiliary fixture is removed upon completion of the cable/hose installation and connection.
Abstract:
A clothing search system provides a clothing search to users using a component-based image search. Retailer catalogs are analyzed to determine clothing components within clothing images. Features associated with the components are determined. When a user requests a clothing search, the clothing search system selects clothing based on the components and features requested by the user. The user may also provide an image to the clothing search system. The clothing search system determines components and features of the image and identifies clothing with matching components.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a novel type of gate-tunable photonics and plasmonics which utilizes doped large-scale graphene coupled with ferroelectric material. The graphene-ferroelectric hybrid structure paves the way for the realization of ultrafast, low power consumption and multi-wavelength operation saturable absorbers for applications in ultra-fast laser systems and novel types of plasmonics for applications in infrared detection, single-photon quantum devices and ultrasensitive detectors.
