An information providing system, reception apparatus, and methods thereof are provided for protected content data. The method for providing the protected content data includes generating or receiving the protected content data, and generating a digital television broadcast signal including at least one data field sync segment and the protected content data. The digital television broadcast signal is provided to a reception apparatus. The at least one data field sync segment carries information necessary to identify a framing structure of the digital television broadcast signal and includes one of security information for accessing the protected content data and a location of the security information.

System and method for displaying digital content on a display device comprising at least one digital content item, configured to be displayed on the display device, a service cloud, comprising a server, memory, and processor, configured to store the digital content item as one or more encrypted slices, and a crypto controller, running on the service cloud server, configured to download a cypher key stored in the service cloud memory. The cypher key is configured to be encoded with a unique identification corresponding to the display device and lock the digital content item to that display device. The service cloud processor is configured to retrieve the encrypted slices, assemble the slices into one or more encrypted particles, and send the encrypted particles and the cypher key to the display device for assembly by the cypher key into the digital content item using an activation code provided by the crypto controller.

The present invention relates to handling of digital content in cross-platform environments and provides methods, systems, computer readable storage with instructions, and/or products for providing digital content, including the possibility of portions of the content being accessible over a communication network. In one form the invention provides a functional software product compliant with a predetermined computing platform adapted for cross-platform use comprising: a predetermined form means for presenting content to a user of the product; a predetermined function means for enabling the user of the product to navigate content, and; at least one driver means operatively associated with the functional software product for enabling access to content by the predetermined form and function means wherein the driver means is adapted for accessing at least one originating content data resource having a format non-specific to the predetermined computing platform.

There is described a method of enabling a content receiver to access encrypted content, the content receiver forming part of a home network. The method comprises executing, on a device that also forms part of the home network, a key provisioning application. The method further comprises the key provisioning application receiving a key provisioning message and, based on the key provisioning message, providing to the content receiver via the home network one or more content decryption keys for decrypting the encrypted content. There is also described a device arranged to carry out this method. In addition, there is described a content receiver arranged to (a) receive from the aforementioned device, via a home network, one or more content decryption keys for accessing encrypted content; and (b) decrypt encrypted content using the one or more content decryption keys. Related computer programs and computer readable mediums are also described.

System and method for displaying digital content on a display device, comprising a display screen, a structural assembly, secured to the rear face of the display screen, and a processing controller within the structural assembly, comprising a memory, display processor, and power distribution and adaptation module. An external power assembly configured to connect to an external power supply, a connector cord configured to connect the power assembly and the power distribution and adaptation module, and a case for the display device, configured to couple to the display screen to provide structural rigidity during shipping, are also presented. An application is provided, configured to run on a computer with memory, processor, and user input device, and configured to communicate via the internet with the processing controller of the display device and a service cloud comprising a server, memory, and processor, to control the display of digital content on the display screen.

System and method for displaying digital content on a display device, comprising at least one digital content item configured to be displayed on the display device, a service cloud, comprising a server, first memory, and first processor, configured to store and manage digital content, and an application, configured to run on a computer with second memory, second processor, and user input device, and configured to communicate via the Internet with the display device and service cloud. In response to a signal from the user input device, the application detects a display of a digital content item on the application's interface, selects the digital content item display from a virtual representation of a digital library on the interface, and moves the digital content item display to a virtual representation of the display device on the interface. In response, the service cloud processor sends the digital content item to the display device.
