The invention concerns a method for making a printing blanket comprising an outer lithographic layer and at the back, on the side opposite to the lithographic layer, a layer made of polymer material. The method is characterised in that it consists in producing the polymer layer in an adjusting material providing the thickness of the blanket with uniformity. The invention is useful in the field of printing machines.

Lipobeads (liposome-encapsulated hydrogels) combine properties of hydrogels and liposomes to create systems that are sensitive to environmental conditions and respond to changes in those conditions in a fast time scale. Lipobeads may be produced by polymerizing anchored or unanchored hydrogels within liposomes or by mixing anchored or unanchored hydrogels with liposomes. Giant lipobeads may be produced by shrinking unanchored nanogels in lipobeads and fusing the resulting lipobead aggregates, long-term aging of anchored or unanchored lipobeads, or mixing anchored or unanchored aggregated nanogels with liposomes. Poly(acrylamide), poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide- co -l-vinylimidazole) lipobeads were produced and characterized.

Various materials, including generally non-compatible materials may be provided from a single delivery system by a unique encapsulation system. An encapsulation system is advantageously constructed as a core of aqueous liquid having at least 5 % by weight water therein, and an encapsulant surrounding the core to form a stable encapsulated particle, the encapsulant comprising at least one layer of hydrophobic particles in contact with and surrounding the core, the core and hydrophobic particles providing an encapsulated system that has an average weight average particle diameter of from 0.05 to 25 micrometers and can support its own weight. The encapsulation system may be provided by a novel method of manufacture comprising providing a mass of hydrophobic particles having average mass diameter size of between 0.05 and 25 micrometers, providing droplets of an aqueous medium to the mass of particles, gently mixing the fine particles of aqueous medium and the hydrophobic particles to form a stable encapsulant system of droplets of the aqueous medium encapsulated by a shell of particles.

The ligand-binding APCs to bind to the ligand-coated Ag/ATP-filled particles and APC phagolysosomes to ingest the ligand-coated Ag(ATP-filled particles to facilitate transfer of the ingested antigen from the phagolysosomes into cytoplasm such that the angigen is delivered to a Class II MHC receptor and is expressed on the surface of the APCs (Ag-APCs), d) incubating the Ag-APCs of step (c) with lymphocytes previously removed from the subject having the disease; and e) administering the incubated lymphocytes of step (d) to the subject so as induce Class II MHC presentation and elicit suppressor T-lymphocytes so to supress immunity against the angiten in the subject.

Conjugates of a hydrophobic moiety, such as a lipid, linked through a cleavable dithiobenzyl linkage to a therapeutic agent are described. The dithiobenzyl linkage is susceptible to cleavage by mild thiolysis, resulting in release of the therapeutic agent in its original form. The linkage is stable under nonreducing conditions. The conjugate can be incorporated into liposomes for administration in vivo and release of the therapeutic agent in response to endogeneous in vivo reducing conditions or in response to administration of an exogeneous reducing agent.

The polymeric nanoparticles including olfactive components have a glass temperature of >50 DEG C. They are obtainable by continuously adding a monomer component and an olfactive component to an aqueous solution. The aqueous solution comprises a first initiator and an emulsifier. The added components are distributed in the aqueous solution to obtain reaction mixture while the polymerization of the monomer component is started at the first temperature. The liquid monomer component and the olfactive component are added continuously while a second initiator is added dropwise to the reaction mixture and the first temperature is maintained. After terminating the addition of liquid monomer component and the olfactive component the temperature of the reaction mixture is increased to a second temperature and a third initiator is added dropwise.

A method for microencapsulation of substances is provided. The substance(s) is/are dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent of the kind that is partially miscible in water media. This organic solution is then mixed with an aqueous solution, which is saturated with an organic solvent and an emulsifier to form an emulsion. The emulsion is then poured into water under continuous agitation for the extraction of residual solvent. The formation of the solid capsules takes place during this extraction process. The capsules are undergone to further purification, whereby the microcapsules can be separated from the water and dried. By conditions of incubation of microcapsules in water-containing formulations the wall-softening process takes place. The unique system for controlled releasing the ingredients from microcapsules is based on the above-mentioned process.

Nasal dilators (11) strips (11) and methods of their manufacture and methods for improving the breathing of individuals are provided. The strips (11) and dilators (11) include an elongated substrate (30, 40) with or without a dilating component or portion (60), having top (62) and bottom (42) surfaces and a pressure sensitive adhesive (32) disposed on the bottom surface. The dilator is adhesively attachable to a user's nose. This device further includes cosmetic fragrance, aromatic medication or transdermal medication disposed on the strips for dilators. In order to improve the shelf life and in use olfactory effectiveness of such products, fragrance delivery mechanisms are used. Separation of volatile oils and adhesives are also provided to minimize adhesive residue.
