Abstract:
A polymeric material with a molecular response time that makes it suitable for use near fragile body tissues. The polymeric material is useful for both low modulus and high modulus applications thereby simplifying the multi-part polymeric article manufacturing process and creating better integrated multi-part polymeric articles. Cross-linked polymers with different moduli may be obtained utilizing the same or similar starting materials but modifying the amount of catalyst, the amount of cross-linking agent, and/or the amount of methyl vinyl cyclics.
Abstract:
An atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition apparatus has been developed for partially coating acrylic based intraocular lenses. In one embodiment intraocular lenses may be coated with a hydrophilic material comprising silicone dioxide and polyethylene glycol. In another embodiment the haptics may be coated with hydrophilic material, which aids in the post implantation unfolding of the lenses whiie not diminishing posterior bag adhesion of the hydrophobic surface of the untreated optic portion.
Abstract:
An interior bag for a capsular bag of an eye comprises a discriminatingly permeable interior bag that selectively reduces fluid flow volume through the interior bag. The interior bag is secured inside the capsular bag. A structure, adapted to hold a refractive device, is attached to the interior bag.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a hydrogel-based intraocular lens (110) capable of covalently binding to a lens capsule (130) upon implantation. The intraocular lens (1 10) is implanted through incision (120) in cornea (122) and into the lens capsule (130). The dehydrated intraocular lens (110) becomes fully swollen (114) within the capsule (130) which can then be controlled by zonules (140) to accommodate the curvature of the lens (140) to different distances.
Abstract:
Implants are associated with a combination of paclitaxel or derivatives and dipyridamole or derivatives in order to inhibit fibrosis that may otherwise occur when the implant is placed within an animal. Exemplary implants include intravascular implants (e.g., coronary and peripheral vascular stents, catheters, balloons), non-vascular stents, pumps and sensors, vascular grafts, perivascular devices, implants for hemodialysis access, vena cava filters, implants for providing an anastomotic connection, electrical devices, intraocular implants, and soft tissue implants and fillers.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for an intraocular device adapted for adjustment via a laser after implantation into an eye. The intraocular device is inserted into an eye, and one or more optical characteristics of the eye, including the intraocular device, are measured. Then, a groove configuration is determined for the intraocular device, and the configuration is ablated into the intraocular device with a short pulse laser.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling optical aberrations to alter relative curvature of field by providing ocular apparatuses, systems and methods comprising a predetermined corrective factor to produce at least one substantially corrective stimulus for repositioning peripheral, off-axis, focal points relative to the central, on-axis or axial focal point while maintaining the positioning of the central, on-axis or axial focal point on the retina. The invention will be used to provide continuous, useful clear visual images while simultaneously retarding or abating the progression of myopia or hypermetropia.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a hydrogel-based intraocular lens (IOL) implant that can covalently attach to a lens capsule on implantation into an eye. The inventive IOL has a high refractive index, high elasticity, and is of a similar size to a naturally occurring lens. In addition, the IOL can be implanted in a smaller, dehydrated state, allowing the IOL to be 1 placed in the lens capsule with a small incision (up to about 1/10 the. volume of the IOL). Exposure to fluid can then initiate rapid swelling of the dried polymer to the shape and dimensions of a natural lens, with full occupation of the lens capsule. Upon equilibrium swelling, the IOL can then make contact with the inner aspect of the lens capsule and covalently bind to it. By this attachment process, the IOL may accommodate in a manner identical to that of the natural lens.
